Poor old Brad is on a hiding to nothing. Double-teamed, triple-teamed, with passes coming to him anywhere but on his chest, yet he's the one who is the crap player.

If the bloody midfield would give it to him properly (I noticed they did this quite well in the NAB game versus Richmond, and look what happened) then we wouldn't be having this discussion. He can only mark what comes to him, and if he's not getting good delivery then there is SFA he can do about it. He's not agile enough to be picking the ball up from his ankles while surrounded by defenders.

Agreed - but he fumbled what came to him yesterday when it was straight at his chest.

The poor bugger has never got good delivery, and with our current midfield, I doubt he will ever get it great.

i never saw a pass straight at his chest and most times he was battling 2 guys.

jonathon brown couldnt beat two hwaks players and there is no way brad ottens is going to beat two doggies.

Straight at his chest was probably a bit of an exaggeration on my behalf. I probably should have said when he had the opportunity to get two hands on the ball.

I remember him fumbling one on the lead in the final term. I am the first to admit he gets horrible delivery at times from a midfield that rarely hits its targets.

I do feel sorry for Ottens at times, because, as you say, he usually is scargging against two or three opponents, and rarely does he get a free kick.

I would hate to be a key forward at Geelong, when there are many clubs who oump the ball harder, faster and more accurate than us.

Hey soupy i thought all the problem was kingsley but it is a different player now kent would be glad to get away from the cats. Dont worrie ottenswill be a good player at the cats this year and more to come. Support dont bag your team mate.

The problem is I don't think anyone here can claim to have fully predicted how our season has unfolded. At the start of the year most if us were expressing doubts about certain players. The fact that we have been proven wrong in some cases is a great credit to these lads in our team. Let's all just enjoy our current ride eh?

Anyone seen a Richmond troll around?

Otto is back were he belongs in the ruck!!!
He's fit and i think he really looks to be enjoying himself. Now the pressure is off him to be a savior for us.

Even better is what we gave has so far turned into nothing really!

We had to give up moloney who is a key player for melbourne now, but im happy with otto (would love to have kept moloney tho)

Would he be getting a game though? Up with some stiff competition from Kelly, Prissa and now Selwood

Id imagine he would (i mean guys like byrnes were getting games till we hit form) but we are doing fine without him atm. But i still love him as a player his a beautiful long kick.

Ottens and Blake are probably the best ruck duo alongside Everitt and Jolly this year. And the crap put on Ling last year when playing as an on baller, was nothing to the criticism Ottens has copped over the last few years from expectations that shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Ottens has been excellent over the last three weeks. His second efforts and handballing from ground level have been the best in comp for big men.

You are a geniius, Soupy. He is useless, isn't he?

Hows Wojac?

You were more wrong than me. Wojac has been 5 times better than bumbler Otto this season.

Ottens is lucky he has lifted his game, hes doing well when the teams doing well but still not getting enough of the ball.

Upgraded his rating from useless dud to mediocre. Lucky Kingy's finished and we are able to thrash Ottens in the Ruck. I'm find with that as long as as he keeps his bumbling ass out of our forward line.

Hes still a Richmond dud. We gave up picks also, not just Beamer if you remember. Feck... First rounders.

Lucky Geelong shot themself in the foot and traded Street/Chambers so the bumbler otto has managed to find a Ruck role with Kingy down.

I agree somewhat with your opinions about Ottens.

Just remember we gave up Moloney and a pick, or we gave up two picks. We didn't give up Moloney and two picks.

Beemer has played a total of stuff all games at Melbourne Injury Prone. So we swapped a Running Midfielder with injuries for a Key Ruck with a dodgy injury plaged past. Still take Otto.

I have seen Otto live about 20 times over the last three years and nearly every time he goes in the ruck the team lifts and plays better. And funnily enough when Kingy went into ruck we often played poorly. I think Otto has been unfit but despite that has played some very good to excellent games for the club in ruck. Sure not enough, but still has not been a total dud. He has not had the motor or ticker to play as a key forward to date. Maybe that will come. I can't see why you are all sticking it to a guy who is finally starting to repay the faith and gives us another great option now that (previously maligned) Blake is also firing. Suck it up and enjoy it. If Otto with his size and skill can actually be consistently good - wow, bring it on!

I think Ottens' form this season has been solid. He's good enough to match it with the best ruckmen, and if they are depleted he'll kill you (West Coast game in case anyone forgets). To me he's doing his job. Prefer him as first ruck over King anyday.

Not sure why ottens has been getting a pasting here -
Leave him alone. All of You. All of you!
I think his work this year has been first rate, plays well around the ground, and drifts down to full forward where he regularly takes strong grabs, on the lead or over packs, or brings the ball down. Going down there he throws the opposition out of balance. FFS how many other ruckmen can lead and mark like a full forward??? Succcesfully???? None i say!!

Agree - no Ottens and our structure turns to cr@p, who else can play 60% ruck/40% forward that is 200cm+?

I've noticed that on the Melbourne board the natives are talking about trading Moloney. This gives a bit of a picture about what they think of how the trade has worked out.
