And I just put the company seal on it. The deal's official!!! :p

As for Port with Carr, Schammer would be the trade there plus a 2nd or 3rd rounder IMO.

Richmond have dont the dirty on us....The Ben Holland deal and then they still get K Johnson the year after. I would only offer Perrie and maybe a second round pick in that deal..... for ottens.

3 things
1) does he want to come home
2) Isnt he good friends with the cornes boys, so he may want to go to the power
and 3rd) can we afford him.

Ottens is what we need, but l wouldnt sell my sole to get him and loss on the deal. Some people want to trade Brett Burton but he can become a very important part of our future.

I thikn it will be Schammer and a 1st rounder for Carr and 2nd rounder or equivelant.

As promising a youngster as Schammer is Carr is a top notch midfielder who was looking like AA certainty before breaking his jaw. Carr is a GUN.

wrennyboy would you seriously accept Burton and Perrie for Ottens??????

Cos if you are I would take that and RUN before you change your mind.

I think Perrie's career at AFC is finished come the end of the year. I am not whether AFC would trade Burton but I sure as hell would.

Are you serious? If you offered us that im sure we would take it and run like crazy.

Perrie can play Forward or Back

And Burton can play midfield or forward. I believe he was ur leading goalkicker in 2002 i think or so. I think they would both be valuable acquisions to RFC.

And then if we pick up a ruckman with our 2nd round pick we would be suited for sure so if you wanna do that trade im all for it.

Ohh Perrie is sentsational you are getting the deal of a lifetime there mate geez he is solid up forward and great down back he doesnt have many clangers geez that is a great deal, mate you wont be getting ripped off no way, I hope you are on the RFC selection committee:p ;) :D

So thats the deal Perrie + Burton = Ottens:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

you do just that, and I wonder how far it will get you.

if that's our best offer, save the cost of the call.

People should realise that the days of Groom-Mcleod trade are well and truely gone.

If you want something good, you've got to give something good.

I'd offer Burton and Perrie. If they take it, bloody fantastic :) , but assuming they don't, forget it. Then trade Burton for a pick.

What about the Guerra deal?

Good work, Chocco. :)

Hope they sign him up for another ten years. What a coach! ;)

That was a typical 5 minutes to 12 trade. Port were forced to get something for Guerra. Stevens deal had a lot to do with other deals.

Those one-sided deals will always exist, but probably fewer and fewer.

Remember recruitment IS NOT as sophisticated as the clubs have you believe.
If it was we wouldn't have rookie listed players, elevated and dominating AFL games so early after being overlooked.
We wouldn't have Finnin being delisted effectively by 2 clubs in two years.

What about the Pickett deal? That was a doozie, Port r*ped Kangaroos on that one.

Schammer is a bit overrated. He hasn't really shown much at all yet, except a big mouth.

As for Richmond...that Ben Holland deal was probably the best thing for us, considering how his career has nosedived since. The Kane Johnson deal was awesome...we got Torney, who is a very good player, as well as picks 4 and 20. Can't complain about how Richmond serviced us in that deal.

It's easy to forget that Chris groom was considered a gun forward at the time, and we were giving up a lot in terms of potential.

When he wasn't injured he played good footy, which wasn't very often. that said, we still made off like bandits.

actually the trade was groom for Mcleod + draft pick!!

no they didn't, Pickett was being hawked around to anyone who'd take him. It was another salary cap trade, where the player wasn't worth what they were paying him.

Given his output, and his likely salary, was he worth anymore than Port paid for him? not that I can see. He's a long, long way from all australian these days.

You didn't see much of Byron last season then.

nothing to make me change my mind, perhaps you could fill us in on the 1st half of his season as they toyed with dropping him because he could get a kick.
Then we can move on to the 2nd half of the year where he became an unaccountable forward to balance off his rep as an unaccountable defender. such symmetry.

other than that, he was great.

Meh, everyone has their bad patches. But Pickett's form in the second half of the season was AA quality.

Unaccountable? The tackle counts tell a different story.

And his opponets stats on rebounds outside 50 ;)

For all the pros ( and they are PLENTY) Choppy still has some cons. Why was it that he was moved from defence to forward line while he was at the Kangaroos?

Because he can kick goals?

I have to agree with the others.

Pickett is a deadly tackler - no argument.

But it's rarely HIS man that he's tackling. He is fairly loose and unaccountable. He tends to wander off to the play without regard for his direct opponent.

He was a great player for the Kangaroos. At least as good as say, Tyson Edwards is for us. And I bet you'd be spitting chips if we gave up Tyson Edwards for what the Kangas gave up Pickett for.

I was never arguing that Port didn't get a steal in Pickett - they did.

My debate is about his accountability.

Sometimes you don't really have to be accountable. It depends on your role. I wouldn't call McLeod accountable, but what he produces is more important than how accountable he is.
