Interestingly that at the begining of the year Richmond supporters thought he was untouchable and he was a star. Now that he has turned his back on them, he is a useless dud who is not worth it.

True to a point but incorrect if your refering this broad assessment to myself, look back at my posts I have been knocking him all year! Even when my previous nick was "Coach Required"

But hey if Sydney and Geelong are lining up for his services I hope Richmond take them to the cleaners on it.

I think this then makes us in a good position to trade Biglands. I dont like trading for trading sake, but Richmond are going to be very short on Ruckmen, as Panthers said, so they may be prepared to offer above market rates to get someone like Biglands who can do the job if needed.

So we trade Biglands, in turn leaving us short of ruckman and forcing us to follow Richmond's lead and pay above market rates to replace him with "someone like Biglands who can do the job if needed".

How does that work?

If we do get Ottens which is unlikely I would like to use him as a FF who occasionally goes into ruck and does the forward line ruckwork. That way we would have a pretty good forward line.

_F: _ Welsh _ Ottens _ Edwards
HF: _ McLeod _ Perrie _ Hentschel

Not a bad forward line there.

Not a bad forward line stiffy, but l would like to see Trent Hentschel play on a half back flank, as Nigel Smart did early. This would allow Fergus Watts to Play on the half forward line.

F Welsh Ottens Ladhams

HF Watts Perrie Johncock

l would offer Rhett Biglands to Richmond and along with WCE pick 12 (Stenglein trade) for Brad Ottens

Wasn't referring to you specifically, I was referring to Richmond supporters in general;)

With Clarke going round one more year I think its very important to play Hudson as much as possible and that is what seems the case with Craig determined to play Biglands up forward.
I think biglands would be better used as trade bait than playing a forward role.
This way if we can get there second round pick with Biglands are a player we can use our first pick to get Eckerman/monfries and Richmonds second pick to get a quality ruckmen then use our second pick to get back on the midfielders.

Spot on.

Trading Biglands to get Ottens does absolutely nothing. you are back to square one. I just don't get how people can come up with these things.

You trade to improve your squad not trade for trading sake.

Ben Hudson will step into that back up ruckman very nicely next season. But the club need to draft a quality young ruckman considering Clark is now in his last season (next season)

No thanks to Ladhams. If we can ship him off then do it.

The prick doesn't deserve to be on our list.

Clarke will no go on after next seasona dn you still need to recruit a ruckman. No trading of our ruckman if we want to improve. If we want to screw things up then by all means go ahead and trade Biglands.

I am even willing to bet that Clarke will end his career the same way Smart did;)

Well you can have J Schuback in the forward pocket and that will be a better option long term as well

I agree with you on this one Stiff. I have been told that he is not that interested in playing for the Crows but is more than happy to collect
his nice big fat pay check every week.

Hudson takes the number 1 ruck role next year, we have nothing to lose may aswell get him primed for next year. This way Clarke can just come off the bench and help out when required.
Why have biglands in the team when he is going to be played up forward? That seems what NC is planning on doing.
I would rather trade him with someone else to gain richmonds 2nd pick which would be 21 or something with that pick we get a quality young ruckmen who could be able to play a small role next season coming off the bench with Hudson being used as the number 1 ruckman.
Its not an ideal situation, but we have to bite the bullet and do something like this, its not like we are going to be vying for the flag next year so there couldnt be a better time to give some young players some experience at AFL level which Im sure will help out emmensly long term.

Now after all that its time to crack a coldie! :D

Should we make a play for Ackland then??? By the way, any ideas what Andrews is like. I see he got in the Bays best a couple of times and then faded away.

Interesting paragraph from Greg Miller's press statement today

It has been well documented that Brad has been paid on potential by our club for a long period of time. The new offer that we put to him for the next 2-3 years was reflective of where hes at in his football career

I rest my case

You rest your case?!?!?

Oh I see, that was just a figure of speech ... case closed :).

that's it ! ;)

quite an interesting press release actually - after this little gem - ie "hasn't lived up to potential"....he then went on to blow sunshine up his arse and tell the world he was the most exciting bit of trade meat in a while. !!??
....and they threatened to redraft him in the PSD if no-one does a deal !!!

when are they gonna just shut the doors down there at Punt Road and pour their time into something meaningful ?
