Ottens looks much more comftorbale as the ruckmen, resting forward than the main point in attack.

Maybe thats a confidence thing, knowing the scoring load is not on his shoulders, but it certainly looks "sexier" for us with him on the ball, and not planted in the square.

Yeh, I agree. The problem with Ottens up foward is not his marking but that he seems to miss a haelluva alot although he isnt really a bad kick: he just cracks quite easily under any sort of pressure. With the pressure of, he performed better. Had a good game for us today.

Not too bad today. Easily unbalanced and opposition seem to know how to play him - has no tricks but put in a serviceable game.

I wasnt overly impressed with the Big Fella today, I thought we were better serviced when Blake was in the ruck.
Mmmmmmm, maybe but as I have said before this is how we should play Otto, he is our best ruckman and we would be up sh1tcreek without him, but of course the expectation when we picked him up was ridiculous - I think he has settled or is close to settling into exactly what we need.

Yeah, he is our best ruckman, but he didnt ruck well today.

Ottens gets his hands to the ball, just never down to our players.
Blake is a better palmer of the ball IMO.

Otto still looks really fit and one of these games will dominate in the forward line ala NAB Cup Round 1.

Pretty servicable which is all we want even though we thought we'd recruited a match winner every week.
He's much more comfortable out of the spotlight.
Any forward line with Mooney, Hawkins, N.Ablett and Ottens drifting around is a huge ( no pun) headache for the opposition backs.

Agree Agree Agree HOW MANY TEAMS HAVE 4 DEFENDERS able to match it in size with Nablett, Hawk, Mooney and Otto

But having 4 tall forwards can be good and bad. Great if they can take the marks bad if they can't and then we have no crumbers. It's pretty good that our guys are able to run and move around so well for tall blokes.

I didn't think the forward line functioned as well when both Hawkins and Ottens were there, looked slow and cumbersome.

The best setup IMO is three talls , 1 medium i.e Johnson,Kelly Prismall etc. and Two small swoopers i.e Stokes, Chappy and Gazza.

Somewhat agree. It's also all about time and spacing - whilst playing 3-4 talls at once at any given moment might sound attractive (along the lines of stretching oppositions), it can also work to the detriment of the overall proper functioning of the forward line in the choking of all the leading space (especially, or perhaps moreso if we're not prepared to move properly/smartly and flooding occurs).

We shouldn't play with that lineup - it's too slow. Our forward line has worked perfectly well the last 2 weeks with Mooney, NAB and Hawkins, and then Sunday with just Mooney and Hawkins.

We don't need Ottens down there. He plays infinitely better in the ruck.

Agree. If Otto plays in the ruck, we'll get use of the ball more often, which means we'll only need two talls down in the forward line.
