1kg heavier than Hilly when drafted

Yes but Pitt is 5cm taller then Hill!

Will take a while to build up some bulk on him.

In terms of Pitt vs Cripps, Pitt looks to be a bigger higher possession winner then Cripps, has more penetration on his kicks and is more dual sided so no-brainer there.

Pitt vs Darling is a hard one from someone who can only see the football and not spend time finding out about what kind of attitudes to life generally that Darling (or for that matter Pitt) has, but given the reaction of every other club to a guy that from a football perspective was worth a top 10 pick, we have probably made a safe decision on that one.

Wouldn't rule him ou from next year on the basis of being skinny - everyone said Avatar wouldn't play a game and he seemed to go alright last season!

I'd say we ruled out Darling largely based on off-field matters. Happy to take Pitt instead, sounds like he has huge upside.

No one seems to have picked up on the irony of Darling, having been suspended from school and having his skull fractured in a street fight, being drafted by the Eagles.

I'd like to thik Pitt is a year awy from replacing Schammer.

Its funny when you try to do a team now how hot the competition for places has become. Assuming Mzungu, Anthony and Faulks are pushing for places you're going to have to work to stay in the team and/or we have way more depth for injuries.

I have one slight concern other than the fact it will take him a 2-3 years to build up the body for AFL seeing as he is 189cm. Even though there could be extenuating factors that led to under performance if Jayden Pitt is such a great kick and perhaps the best kick in the draft. How come he didn't get a good score in the kicking test at draft camp? Did he test? I'm pretty sure he would have done the kicking test seeing as he was at draft camp for the agility test which he did very well in.

He does look skilled in the under 18 carnival video.

I was wondering the same and the only conclusion I can come up with is that the test was useless! That seems to be what those that witnessed it were saying. Totally irrelevent and inaccurate results.

do they replicate match conditions during those kicking tests? if not, then that's not much of a gauge.

I think the main point I took about his kicking was that every informed commentator, journo or scribe made the point he's an elite kick on either side. That's worth more than a kicking test IMO. Really looking forward to seeing this boy play. Hope he gets a shot in the NAB.

"I've considered that might be an option but I'm looking to travel anywhere because all I'm after is an opportunity to play AFL.

"If that's on the Gold Coast, then great but I'll be happy to go anywhere. It's been a dream of mine to play AFL football ever since I can remember."

Good lad. Doesn't sound like the sooky type who'll want to head back to Victoria first chance he gets.

Not quite sure there is any irony in that. Seems more like a home-coming.

I haven;t seen anything from Wiseby about this year draft. Did he do a review and has he had anything to say about Pitt, or is he retired from the caper?

I am so glad we didn't pick Darling.I don't care if he is the second coming of Tony Lockett, this guy is a piece of work.

He will fit in well with the immoral eagles.

Apparently he is also as thick as two short planks.

Look, good luck to the guy and I hope he moves on from the eagles after two years of shyte and then has a long and successful career.

How funny are we at hating players as soon as they are at the Eagles?

I remember hoping that we would pick up Darling in the draft, then when West Coast got him, I immediately thought. " Yeah, stupid thug will fit in there !!!!!"

I thought the exact same thing - was hoping like heck we'd take him with 20 thinking how much i like his attitude etc.
As soon as we passed him at the Eagles read his name out i pretty much had the same thought process as you.

Was really impressed with this man today; great composure and skills. Looked AFL ready.

I don't think many of us saw this coming, that he would play 2 out of first 3 games, on top of that both being away games.

the more i think about it, the more it makes sense pitt missed last week, i thought he was servicable against the lions, certainly earned his place for the cats, but his slight frame against the hardened cats could have been detremental to his development and a liability to the team. both crows and the lions were young sides who were less likely to destroy him physically and with that possibly ruin the great confidence he would have got against the lions.

i like the kid, reckon he could be a really good running midfielder in the fyfe or mundy mould

looks very promising. Fantastic that Harves is still backing the young guys in

We really seem to have a knack lately of picking up players that ooze poise.

If today is anything to go by Pitt looks like another big win for our recruiters.
