THE 2002 PREMIERS:
B: M.Johnson Fletcher Solomon
HB: Wellman Henneman Ramanauskas
C: Blumfield Misiti McGrath
HF: Hird Lucas Caracella
F: Rioli Lloyd Mercuri
Rucks: Alessio J.Johnson Peverill
Bench: Heffernan Jacobs Bolton Salmon
Emerg: McVeigh Barnard Moorcroft
* I think next year will be the year in which Bolton cements a position in our senior line-up. I believe that he's a late developer and will develop into a very good player in the coming years. He has a big build and can play in a number of positions.
* McGrath will be a starter at the beginning of the season as he provides us with leg-speed and great skill however if Heffernan regains his form of 1999/2000 then he'll take that position by finals time and McGrath will have to play off the bench.
* Aaron Henneman will be a key player next season as we need another tall good defender to help out Fletcher and Solomon, allowing Wellman to run off opponents and create goals. Aaron needs to bulk up over the summer and needs to improve his disposal as he gives up the ball to the opposition one too many times.
* Henneman's inclusion into our line-up provides us with a lot of options. Our lack of height in our back-line forced Jacobs to play as a half-back flanker whereas next year Jacobs can play on a half-forward line or even on a wing, which I think he'll play his best footy as he has great skill and will create many more goals coming off the bench.
* Peverill will be an extremely important player next season and will be a definite starter in each and every match. We lacked any aggressiveness or toughness in our game play and we lost our form after Peverill was dropped back to the VFL. He along with Fletcher, Wellman, and Hird will be the players who we'll be riding our premiership chances on.
* Salmon is also going to be an important player next season. He along with Alessio and Hille, are our ruck-men and must perform to a high standard. If they can win half the tap-outs in every game, then we've already gone a long way in winning because with players like Peverill, J.Johnson, Misiti, and Blumfield in the middle, they can then obtain most centre-clearances and with our gun forward-line, Lloyd, Lucas, Hird, Cararcella and Rioli, we should be able to win most matches without a doubt.
* Having three certain-starter players as our emergencies is great and very important. McVeigh, Barnard and Moorcroft are good players and they'd be pushing for senior selection every week. This alone is putting pressure on the likes of Bolton, Jacobs, McGrath and even Rioli and they would have to prove themselves week in/week out to earn a spot in the team for the next game. It's good to have a batch of players in a team who know that they might not be playing next week if they have a bad one so they would have to play well.
* Our depth and number of options coming off the bench, I believe, are the factors that make us the great team we are and will be the crucial factors as to why we'll be Premiers for 2002!
