Unless something like this happens and works we will be also rans:

B: Maxwell, Presti, Burns
HB: Clement, Wakelin, Johnson
C: Tarrant, Buckley, Lonie
HF: Fraser, C Cloke, Didak
F: Woeeodin, Rocca, Holland

R: Richards Licuria, R. Shaw
I: Davidson, Lockyer, B. Shaw, J Cloke

EM: Cole, Rowe, H. Shaw, McGough.

Plenty of scope for positional moves and changes in game plan there. Unless a few midfielders step up we are gone. We need to start the year looking something like this so we can settle in this format and be stable by September with option to make changes. Tarrant on a wing gives airial strength across the middle which we haven't had since Brown and Millane were there pluss he is a good athlete. He'd be a good kickout target. there is always scope to move him back forward if things aren't working there and R. Shaw to run on a wing to use his pace.

big collingwood fan i am and i think we a few injuries this year we were good in games but fell away because a lack speed late in games, because of this blokes that arnt bad footballers shouldnt be playing these include kinner, mckee and swan. i have posted by best 22 plus 3 emergencies.

full back line
COLE
WAKELIN
CLEMENT

half back line
JOHNSON
J.CLOKE
LONIE

center line
R.SHAW
S.BURNS
S.WEOWODIN

half foward line

DIDAK
ROCCA
LOCKYER

full foward line

MAGIC
TARRANT
C.CLOKE

ruck
J.FRASER
N.BUCKLEY
P.LICURIA

interchange

HOLLAND
PRESTIGIACOMO
RICHARDS
MCGOUGH

i think mcgough and richards are big part of this team, i think mcgough is our best in and under player with scotty burns while big guy gives us a second chance in the ruck when josh goes foward.
Dutchy is a handy player he gives us a small foward option while he has aslo done well as a tagger.
presti is a under rated player in my mind he is almost always on his game with his second efforts which are to also be effective in most times.

My emergencies are
1 OBREE
2 DAVIDSON
3 KING

Still want Tarrant on the wing Mark?
I wonder if MM reads these boards.
At least you are consistant
BTW I think it would work but it would leave us exposed on the forward line (unless Tommy really fires)

I still have a problem with OBree in our best 22. If we are going on talent he would be there but if effort and consistency count he would be in the Willy seconds. Isn't it interesting that he has had his best patch of form when the axe looms close at the end of the season.

I'm liking the idea of Tarrant on a wing, or at the very least playing from a flank with a licence to roam more and more. As outlined above we're missing an aerial pressence through the middle of the ground. Tarrant could provide us with a marking option through the corridor, we've seen a lot this year that we try to work the ball around the wing and find targets, leading to very static play and more often than not a breakdown in our movement forward.

This has in some ways come about due to injuries, not having key targets to kick to and causing a reluctance amongst our players to kick to contested situations. However there does seem to be a mentality amongst the playing group where they don't want to take any risks or kick to a situation where the possibility of loss of possession might occur. We need to address this, try to play the free-flowing aggresive football that we're capable of.

The Tarrant on the wing/flank experiment would only occur of course if Rocca and C.Cloke were fit. Cloke and Rocca at CHF and FF respectively would work well I feel, Tarrant will run all night, this we know, so there's no reason why Tarrant can't mark the ball around the wing/CHB region, hit another target along the CHF line (Rocca, Fraser, perhaps even Davidson if he can get up after his latest reconstruction), then move forward and provide a leading option, I can see him running many opponents into the ground.

As for our best 22, here's mine:

B: Johnson, Wakelin, Clement
CHB: J. Cloke, Presti, Cole
C: Lonie, Buckley, Woey
CHF: Tarrant, Rocca, Didak
F: Burns, C. Cloke, Fraser
R: Richards, Licuria, Holland

I: Maxwell, Lockyer, R. Shaw, McGough

EM: Rowe, Davis, Davidson, B. Shaw, H. Shaw

If Davidson can get fit and firing next year, then I'd definitely work him into the starting line-up, the midfield will of course be rotated as usual throughout a game, with Holland, Licuria, Burns, Buckley, Woey, Didak, McGough all getting runs through the middle.

o'bree and king make it into your best 22 but not lonie
even if you were to argue that their performances have been better this year, and that would be highly debatle at least, lonie's scope for improvement compared to those 2 spuds would have to see him included at the expense of one of them.
fwiw i would drop king for lonie.
after all this i just noticed you named bucks on the interchange bench. wave goodbye to the last semblance of credibility you had left.

After Friday night Lonie would replace king

There is no room for Bucks in my starting side untill I find out where he is going to spend the rest of his career

Where would Bucks slot into the starting side? He may be best used as a player who rests the first 5 mins of each qtr instead of the last 5. I believe it is best to start tall and then rotate the player so there is no room on the forward line. I would bring him on for Rocca after 8-10 mins who would then replace Richards after about 20 mins

Bucks cannot be considered in our best 18 untill he shows he is over his injuries and can play a full game otherwise start him on the bench

Dont know what everyone has against O'Bree

lonie should've been ahead of king prior to friday night.
bucks would slot straight into the centre where he has always been. never start your captain and best player on the bench. ever
bucks is part of our best 18 even at 80% fitness.(more an indictment on our current list than an out and out compliment to bucks.)
when o'bree stops turning the ball over with such monotonous regularity then i might ease up on my current hatred of him. clanger king.
are you also suggesting that rocca would spend 10-12 minutes off the ground each quarter (or just the first), and that pebs and bucks would only share the ground for the last 5-10 minutes of each quarter. if so, absolute lunacy.
please clarify that statement.

Not a bad line-up.

Just suggesting that if Bucks is going to play CHF then let him start on the bench, give Rocca a run then give him a rest before giving him the last 5-10 mins on the ball

That was just for the 1st qtr. After that who knows but Bucks is no longer a centre player according to MM so I didnt put him there. With so many talls the only place for him in the starting side is on the back line with Shaw on the bench

After the 1st qtr it depends on form and need for rest

Then again Bucks could take Roccas place in the team if pebbles doesnt improve

Lonie was in ******** form and with Maxwell playing better and Wakes and Jason to come back I felt he would be pushed out whilst King is a forward but maybe now Lonie would be a forward.

O'Bree is better than some of the players getting a game for Collingwood at the moment and is one of our best players for the last month

O'Bree's OK, he's good at times, but goes missing alot, Lonie hasn't been in great form, maybe some time down at Williamstown could snap him back into gear?

Not sure how good Bucks would be at CHF.

He would suck, but it seems MM wants to play him there as he wont fit inside 50 next year with C.Cloke, Tazza, Davidson, Fraser and the need for crumbing forwards

I only put him there cos it seems MM wants to play him forward, would play him at half back where he began
