I am very excited when I look at our list, seems as though for the first time in years we actually have some depth. (even though they are very young and raw)

So i ask for everyone to give a best 22 in position and then there 3 emergencies, Imagine it is Round 1 2011...

Just to help people out so they dont forget anyone, here is our list: http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/tp-richmond-tigers#Scene_1

dont know about best 22 but our best chance of improving in the longer term is going with mainly untried and unestablished younger players.

With Connors and Lids on the HBF - does Newy go to a pocket where he's forced to be ultra-accountable or does he stay at the HBF - and push Connors/Lids into the midfield?

For me - as of the now (assuming everyone is fit)

B: Tuck - Thursfield - Moore
HB: Connors - McGuane - Newman
C: Jackson - Martin - Foley
HF: Cousins - Griffiths - Edwards
F: Nason - Riewoldt - Tambling
R: Graham - Cotchin - Deledio
Int: Collins - Vickery (he's certainly in it) - Astbury - Farmer

EMG: Webberley - White - Morton

I know you don't rate him but Kelvin Moore is a way better 3rd tall than Thursfield. Thursfield will not provide any attacking plays and poor decision making where as Moore is better there.

Thursty is a better kick, better stopper and just as good a decision maker. He's also 2-3cm taller and about 5k heavier. Moore should be battling for small defenders role, but Connors, Newman, Tambling, Deledio and Webberley would be better options imo

THURSFIELD has the all-important advantage of being able to shut down a key defender and is there as insurance should Post or Gourdis be having a bad day.
With Deledio, Connors and Newman down there, there should be enough run. That said from the limited I have seen of Gourdis, he seems to be able to generate a fair bit of rebound and drive too. Thursfield is there primarily as a shut-down guy!
Not having a go at you buddy - but I kinda laugh at suggestions on here that we need to play guys like King etc. as a defensive forward, who shuts down a half back, but effectively doesn't get the ball ... yet at the other end we must have six rebounding machines, who all get it 20 plus times.

And for what it's worth, Kelvin Moore has been much improved in recent weeks ... hope he keeps it going, albeit he's injured this week. We need ALL players up and firing and competing for spots, even the Jordan McMahon's of this world!!

Lol I don't know if you got that from me but I never ever ever want Jake King in my best 22 so no idea where you are pulling that from......the only role he can play is a tag on a quick mid but I still think he should have been delisted last year.

I think you underestimate Moores defensive ability. IMo it is just as good as Thursfield. Moore is much stronger than Thursfield who is a stick and if he is third tall he can play better on the other smaller guys.

Edit: Just realised you said not having a go etc...

what i would like to see in the second half of the season.
hedging my bets a little as clearly the side i pick is not the best 22 right atm just a bit of development and looking forward but its also catering toward making us competetive with structure height size and skills.

b/ thursfield - gourdis - connors.
hb/ deledio - post - moore/dea.
c/ newman - martin - cotchin.
hf/ nason - riewoldt - collins
f/ astbury - griffiths - a quality quick goalkicking small fwd/mid.
r/ graham - tuck - foley.
int/ browne/vickery - jackson - cousins - webberley.

like i said height size and structure. with plenty of development enough good kicks keepping the poor kicks to a minimum. and the side is flexible and very changeable.
