like your work, hashy, but you need to know I'm a huge jim fan - please be super cautious of working yourself into a place where you end up less than ok.....
Fair enough. I have liked him too. Not cool that he feels anointed to be the arbiter of people’s opinion then claim innocence in having his opinion questioned. I wasn’t the one calling people boofhead and stupid. That was him. Didn’t think you would be a fan of that type of personal attack.

Edit: then he bangs on Ash24 who has some cool stuff to say and had the temerity to have an oppositional opinion.

Cottrell. Parks. Newman.
Kemp. XXXX. Carroll.
LO’b. Dow. Newnes.
Fogarty. Kennedy. Philp.
Durdin. McGovern. Honey.
R. Pittonett. Stocker. Gibbons.
I. Ramsay. Owies. XXXX. XXXX.

That’s a young VFL side, so expecting we’ll look for experienced and big bodies. I can understand why we are reportedly trialling Marsh, Oscar McDonald and (not so much) Moore.

  • Kemp wasn't, and McGovern and JSOS aren't key forwards.
  • I've literally put Cuningham and Betts in a positional battle for clearly discussed reasons, but you've clearly neither noticed, nor read that.
  • Dow isn't selected in any defensive rotation, whatsoever. That's for SPS, Williams and the rest of the outside midfield unit to sort out.

But cheers for talking down to me and in absolutes when dealing with my opinion in an opinion thread! Very kind of you.
Yes maybe I came upon slightly arrogant, but why can't you use your own logic with yourself? Isn't the whole point of this thread to say your opinion, and then others respond with theirs?

In terms of your three points:
~ Kemp is rumoured to now be 195cm, and you've put him in the forward line. You would think he would at least be playing the 3rd key forward role which McGovern was brought in to play?
~ Although you put Betts in the FP, you said it was a positional battle with Cunners. I chose Betts, because Cuningham should be played as a midfielder. I don't know what the problem is.
~ SPS in defence and Dow in the midfield vs. Marchbank in defence and SPS in the midfield. I think most of us know what we would rather.

No one said that you have to agree with me, and I was more than happy for you to respond with your own justification to your ideas. At the end of the day this forum serves as a platform to share our own opinions. End of story, have a good day.

The problem was the language and tone through which you expressed that, and I happily accept that wasn't your intention.

Newman.

With Saad and Williams coming on board, Newman now somehow just feels right in this mix to me. He has no issue finding the ball and now we have plenty of exit players for support. He doesn't have to find opening up the ground himself, any more. SPS to a lesser extent, but I think the club will still be looking at Marchbank to fill a back spot.

De Koning Cripps Williams
Walsh ECurnow
Williamson

This seems like the right home for Williamson, but he does have competition in Newman, O'Brien and possibly other mids being rotated.
The rest pretty much name themselves.

Martin McKay Fisher
McGovern Casboult Betts

Forward line is a bit tricky now and specially so with CCurnow not available.
Fair to argue that Betts shouldn't be there, yet likely will be...at least initially.
McGovern - I'd say he'll start. Club likes the three talls forward line, but he has a pre-season to get through. According to Russell....so far, so good.

Murphy Petrevski-Seton Setterfield Marchbank
........and then good luck, although I feel Fogarty will get an early look-in.
Cuningham, Gibbons fighting out for a forward spot and then.....so many others with chances. Much too early right now.

Bolded = Almost certain starers.

There's still a lot of sorting out as to what our best team may be, but I see us going in with experience early on. Maybe not, but I think the club will side that way.

Love the look of it, but no Setters anywhere? I know the club will want to play Murphy for him to get to 300, but he's the one who Setters would be replacing on the bench. If not, then SPS the next most likely.

Seniors & reserves, though quite a lot of out of position players in the 2’s off the list.

And I think over here Gibbons to replace Cunners would be my preference. 4 mids on the bench looks interesting too. ;)

OOPS. Amendment to follow.
I have Marchbank on the bench though.

There’s enough utilities out on the ground with Marchbank & McGovern plus Levi to chop out in the ruck.
SPS doesn’t sound like he’ll be playing mid at this stage, unfort.

I wouldn’t have Murph on the list from last year but we prob made gestures to get him to 300 when he’s re-signed in the past. Hard not to see him selected, which I would direct his spot to Gibbo (who will likely get a gig too, and Newnes).

DC; see how the pre-season goes but he’s a point of difference player to others on our list.

Selection is driven by diminishing our reliance on Cripps & backing Stocker & Kemp in.

You’re probably diminishing the impact of Cripps at CHF to that of <Josh Walker type. Shoulder best left away from the crash & bang of a CHF.

Really like it. Something different in there in Stocker and Cripps. No Betts either is a good shout. Too many vanilla team posts So good to see.

Less than OK is a pass mark here for me. I can’t even get what I’m trying to say in the right thread.
Not sure that I like all this Facebook argy bargy. I might log out and go back to Big Footy to see if that other Extinct Dog/cat guy is still about.
