Just wanted to say great effort guys with a full squad come september you blokes will be a real threat

Also really good to see the respect between both club supporters at the game and on BF we showed everybody today why we own this game on this great day

Throughout the entire game it looked like you wanted it more but Collingwood were just slightly better on the day, it doesn't help you blokes that Dane Swan played out of his skin today.

Great effort by your boys in what was a great spectical, both teams showed great fight and played the way they should have on such a special day. I know it would have been heartbreaking to lose this game the way you did but i think the Essendon football club showed a fight and grit that i haven't seen from them in a few years which coupled with some fantastic young talent should hold you in great stead for not only the rest of this year but many years to come. Well played, bad luck and i am looking forward to the next match up between these two sides with both teams hopefully at full strength. Fantastic game/day for all those involved and footy fans alike. All the best for the rest of the season!

I just can't bring myself to be happy with it. At all.

O'Brien running free for a quarter I can tolerate, but it was a half, and that's enough.

Sick of being "brave". I know we're not tilting for the flag for another few years, and I know that Collingwood are formidable opposition, but the game was there to be won, and we should have won.

Oh if only Slattery was the sub...

In all honestly on thing disappointing (other than losing of course) was just how crap our forward line is without Hurley. Took us 3 qtrs to work out how to get it past Half Forward and even then tired legs probably had more effect than our actual forwards.

Thought it really showed our weaknes.. no consistent path to goal without Hurls.. need to address this ASAP.

And BTG.. Barlow was ALWAYS going to haunt us.. another lasting legacy of the disgrace that was. Taking Myers over Palmer may also hurt too in the long run, as will taking Gumbleton over everyone.. However we mustn't dwell.

If we play like this all year we will be playing finals and may do damage.. and if we improve 10% over the summer then bring on 2012 cause we are comin!

???

I've made one comment in this thread, about the coaching.

Only 3, 5 & 6 years ago respectively. Good that we're not dwelling over it.

:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Hate to see what you'd be like if you do dwell on something.

I think its more the player that was left loose. Gibbs last week never once filled the hole or helped his team mates, just waited for easy kicks. Harry was much better at getting back to double team Crameri. We did it against North as well and no-one complained.
Against Geelong last year too

It won us the game last week so you have to have faith in it, but its worth noting Heppell was our loose man and was damaging as well. Wasn't as costly as people are making out.

I'd much rather Laidler and Gibbs free than O'Brien and Keefe.

Besides, it was obvious he needed manning up after about 15 minutes ... it took 60 before they acted.
