Hmm lets see

Grimes - Tarrant - Stack
Vlastuin - Schlensog - Broad.

Dow - RCD - Lambert
Soldo - Martin - Prestia.

Edwards - Balta - Baker
Bolton - Lynch - Riewoldt

Nankervis - Graham - Rioli - Cotchin.

We are not going anywhere next year if we dont have a few younger blokes step up and cement their spots.

Balta and Lynch can do a bit of rucking.
Lynch has not been injured in years so he is not to fragile to throw into the ruck for 5 minutes a Q.
Soldo and Nank can share it around a bit and occasionally play together.

Interesting with having Cotch and Jack in the back pockets with Lynch holding down the Gorillas at FB. We tanking?

It's the new plan, Gil is bringing it in after Hocking final masterstroke to stope the 4 peat. Richmond get to play with no full forward line. If Richo can go to the wing, why not Jack and Cotch to the back forward pockets.

Disappointed this thread hasn't had, yet again, revised team lists with all 5 new draftees included.

Really disappointed.

Players who I rate but are limited and made me feel like a cheap whore for leaving out.

Lambert, McIntosh, Broad , Mansel .

Past regulars who are meh.

Castagna , Picket, Rioli

Don’t think Gibcus or Balta will
End up forwards but we need a long term KPD stopper which means Miller must get exposure .

Seeing as the list management team so heavily targeted pace and foot skills during the draft, we are probably trying to turn into a better transition type team. This will probably leave hard working, less skillful players that had been crucial to our dynasty game style behind. Wouldn't be surprised to see Ross, Pickett, Broad, Aarts and Parker banished to the reserves as we try to adjust to the new rules. McIntosh has a reprieve because we have no other Wingmen and Castagna is quick enough to still have a role if used correctly but will probably be replaced by Clarke by the end of the year.

Clarke and Banks are also a chance round 1
Gibcus is a Key position, so will probably take a while as he either behind Balta, Tarrant and Grimes in defense or will have to be trialed in a few VFL Game if he is going forward, don't want to throw him in the deep end when he has just learnt a new position.

bolton unlucky

I am going to throw something wild out there because otherwise its too boring.

B Stack Tarrant Grimes

HB Vlastuin Gibcus Short

Centre: Balta Cotch McIntosh

HF Bolton Dusty Edwards

FF Clarke Lynch JR

Ruck Nankervis Graham Prestia

Bench: Lambert Broad RCD Baker

Sub: Sonsie

There are some forecasts clearly, so more 2022 than current right now

We can afford to experiment with Gibcus and Balta I think, especially against weaker opposition.

I have not put Brown in yet because I am just allowing a little more time for him to develop and bed down one or two roles, same with Banks and other youngsters. Clarke seems finely tuned already and Gibcus might be better thrown in earlier with Balta moving them around a little bit with support and better players around them to see what they can do, with better kickers helping showcase whats possible for their team contribution. Its probably too early for Gibcus but who knows , we will see.

Soldo and Nank can rotate in the ruck between, with Balta chipping in and supporting as a initial ruck set-up and see what develops.

Obviously other players will break into the side, get a go etc.. throughout the year especially a Dow, or a Cumberland, Ross and even Biggy as they progress etc..

Hmmm now we have a full list to choose from

FB: Grimes - Miller - Stack
HB: Vlastuin - Tarrant - Broad

C: Rioli - Cotchin - Ralphsmith
R: Soldo - Martin - Prestia

HF: Lambert - Balta - Edwards
FF: Bolton - Riewoldt - Lynch

Int: Nankervis - Graham - RC-D - Baker

VFL 22

FB: McIntosh - Nyuon - Mansell
HB: Banks - Gibcus - Short

C: Pickett - Caddy - Brown
R: Colina - Ross - Dow

HF: Cumberland - ????? - Clarke
FF: M Rioli - ????? - Ryan.

Int: Aarts - Sonsie - Castagna - Martyn.

Regarding the question marks. The only option we have with them is play 190cm flanker Parker in one key position and second ruck/fwd Ryan in the other key position.
My biggest concern with Ryan is he is more a ruckman than forward and already im asking do we have another half ruck half forward but not quite either
Im not trying to nasty or have a go at Ryan but this is a concern for me.
When you do this exercise picking a seconds team the non existence of developing and back up genuine key forwards becomes very evident. The second team imo is crying out for not one but two KPF'S.

I played McIntosh back as he did this as a junior and the lack of a third tall is evident. No reason why he cannot play a broad type of role at 192cm and add some experience to what is a very young back half. Banks plays HB a taller running back 186cm with good skills and pace coming out of defence
Short plays two's for me simply because i prefer Stack and Rioli in front of him.

Tom Brown i rolled up to wing he has pace and great footskills and imo the wing role is not that dissimilar to hb now days. Sheesh a wingman with a bit of pace polish and skill.
We have two old heads playing midfield in caddy and Pickett along with developing mids Ross and Dow we need to give them both every opportunity to step up in these roles this year. Colina rounds out the mid onballers as probably the only genuine ruck we have and he needs to get games into him.

To the interchange bench well Aarts and Castagna i think should be cut from the list and in this im phasing them out. I reckon Aarts can play midfield for us and give the kids a hand and with Castagna im looking at younger far better skilled options with Clarke, Rioli,Cumberland and even Sonsie.

Of the ne kids we drafted i think Sosie and possibly clarke the most likely to play seniors this year

This is a really hard exercise now. Most of our triple premiership stars pick themselves and can not be left out. I would like to see a three tall attack so picked Gibcus in the forward line on that basis, plus this is boring if you don’t throw something different in there. I think Soldo will take up the number 1 mantle in the ruck again, but you could easily swap him for Nank on the bench. I really think RCD is going to step it up this year. I also think Stack as a forward works, but easily could throw Baker forward or mid and Stack back. Will be interesting to see if Stack could play through the middle too. I think Dusty will play predominantly midfield and Bolton will switch between attack and the middle. Ralphsmith I think is the best option on the wing and Short could see more time up the ground instead of in the backline to improve our kicking into the 50. I like Dan Rioli in the backline too. Taz slots in for Astbury. Tigger Broad and Balta round out our back 6 nicely. Cotch and Prestia in the engine room, with Graham, Edwards and RCD rotating off the bench. I like Dow as the sub, but could easily pick any of the other 13 players I have got down as possible emergencies. They are all capable of playing and playing well. What a great amount of depth we have built. I wouldn’t mind Miller in, in which case you could throw Balta forward and Gibby could wait in the wings. Will be interesting to see how it all unfolds. Bring on 2022.
