How many first round picks do we have on our list already?

Until we build a team culture that is back to the true Port Adelaide tradition all we will be doing is pouring concrete on a swamp.

AAMI Stadium proves you right.

forget how many first round picks do we have

lets ask the question how many talent skilled footballers do we have?

I agree watching last week nearly all their players had beautiful kicking actions. we have too many players where skills dont look natural eg Kane, Carlile, McCarthy, Thomas to name a few

It's simply not quantifiable whereas number of first round picks is. We might have a bunch of talented players but our poor culture is stopping them from realising their potential.

If we have a dozen first round picks and they can't win anyway, what's to say adding more will make us any better if we can't develop them (which is a frequent lament of posters on this board)?

How many wasted first round picks do we have is a better question.

How many wasted first round picks do we have is a better question.

How many are wasted because of the poor culture of the club? And can they be redeemed by improving the culture with a new coach, new attitude, better support?

And if we keep grasping for first round picks with a poor culture, will the be any good? Or will we continually lament wasted first round picks?

We have to get the culture of the club right before we keep grasping for first round picks. Or we will never develop players fully.

True, but out current situation will be benefited if we get 4 picks in the top 25

Not if we don't turn the current culture of the club around. A bunch of kids fresh out of high school playing alongside guys who believe near enough is good enough will soon be dragged down.

We need to return to being a club whose every player when asked by Fos Williams when handed the guernsey 'Are you prepared to die for this guernsey?' will say yes.

And as supporters we have to get out of this mindset of early picks - especially pipe dream picks - being the saviour of this club.

No we don't. We need to get away from this cult of personality, all that glitters is gold mentality and build a club culture that is resilient, committed and absolutely team-oriented. In short return to the ethos that Fos built at our club. The club before the individual.

Raw talent gets a club only so far
Pretty much.

Hartlett, Boak, Gray, Pearce, Trengove, Carlile, Lobbe, Redden, Ebert, Moore, Pittard, Schulz, Surjan, Broadbent, Westhoff, Cornes, Wingard and anyone else I'm forgetting would all be fully fit and playing very good football if they were at Sydney or Collingwood.
