Analysis Our Forward 6

And again, if you are to base team selection on stats, floggos like deBoer, Mzungu et al would still be on our list.

Perhaps you need to re-think your stance that numbers on a piece of paper actually have anything to do with someone's ability to play the game.

The guy is already 22. While you might blame injury (which is another massive issue) he looks years off being a 30-40 goal a year forward (and we'd probs want even more).

He needs more to his game than a willingness to crash some packs.

But does he look that far off, does he really? Do you genuinely find it that unbelievable that he is capable of kicking a goal and a half a game?

Come on now...

If you cant get the ball you can't play the game. Apeness has so far done nothing at all in his career to suggest he'll be the solution to anything. He's had zero impact in 7 games so far.

He has potential but it's wishful thinking in the extreme to consider him the great white hope.

He's a key position player from a non-AFL background. He could be years off being AFL ready, if he ever is.

From memory Apeness took a year off from AFL and had go at Ra-Ra where he ruptured his ACL.
Hardly 'from a non-AFL background.'

McCarthy alone had 6 shots at goal against geelong. Granted he missed 5, but if he can get that many shots each week I'll be happy. I would expect him to have a good 40 goal season if that is the case. Was probably just a bit rough around the edges from his year off.

Kersten I'm expecting 20-25 goals in a normal season given he plays every game. Again may of been a bit shaken as he has to get used to the forwardline starved Ross Lyon system and going against his old team

Walters will be good again this year, may have to become the main target in our forwardline at times which is off for a small forward. But hopefully a good 30-35 goals from him this season.

Griff/Sandi, which ever one is resting forward, should be trying to draw 2 defenders to free up our other forwards, or try and get the ball down on the ground for Walters, Langdon or Ballas to crumb. Doesn't exactly have to be a scoring threat for these reasons, so I'm hoping for 20 goals combined.

Langdon/Ballas should be trying to crumb the ball when it hits the ground and provide pressure when possible. Expecting 20-35 goals combined (depending on how quickly Ballas recovers)

Bennell should fix his calves after a year off and join the team to bring in some much needed X-factor. Should kick about 2 goals a game.

Dawson. 1 goal.

There's just no point repeating myself over and over. Basic concepts are clearly beyond some people.

The basic concept of "you have to sometimes get the ball to make an impact in AFL" seems lost on you.
