Our greatest rivalry?

Who do we all rate as our greatest rival? (For Roys, Bears, and Lions if you wish!)

From the Roys days, I'd say Richmond would have been our greatest foe. Carlton (after their treatment of us at Cactus Oval) would also rank high, along with the usual suspects (Collingwood, Melbourne, Essendon etc.).

There were a couple of firey clashes against St.Kilda too (even before my time!).

Of recent (ie: post merger years), you'd have to have North and the Bulldogs for starters.

I also reckon there's a bit of tension on the Carlton front. We both given each other pastings in the finals, as well as a couple of top "away" wins.

Essendon also seem to like having a shot at us too.

And you can't forget the Hawks either. They always reckon they're a go (or have something to prove), and seem to bring out their best against us.

What do the rest of you Lions fans reckon?

Collingwood games always draw big crowds at the Gabba.....but there is no real one rival i feel.

Definitely the blue and white vertically striped team, as you can tell from these boards.

For me it's those pesky neighbours - Collingwood and Carlton. If we can beat these teams, the year's a success.

The Roos for me! I still remember the Bears winning the H & A twice against them in 96 only to meekly submit in the final. Then the exciting game at the G in 99 followed by the M Mmartyn/S Black incident in the final. Then the 2000 heart stopper. Got to be our turn this year.

Used to be the Doggies, but they are so pathetic now - it's hardly worth the effort to gett revved up against them.

If we can also beat Richmond this year I will be very happy as I cannot stand their supporters.

Collingwood and Carlton are neighbours of Fitzroy aren't they?
Aren't we the 'Brisbane Bears-FITZROY Football Club', trading as the "Brisbane Lions"?

For my mind, Collingwood has always been Fitzroy's greatest rival. It used to be particuarly sweet beating them. As for the Brisbane Lions since 1997, either North or the Bulldogs.

For the Brisbane Lions, it's easily the Kangaroos and the Bulldogs. IMO the rivalries are equally as fierce.

not really a rivalry but Port v Brisbane has had some good matches in the past 4 years...

2 Draws...you have beaten us at FP, we have beaten you at the Gabba & FP....makes things interesting....

Oh...and the come from behind draw in '97 got you into the finals on percentage at our expense !!! grrrrr.

That's true, and they were amazingly thrilling draws at that, like decided in the last minute or so of the game........you can't ask for better than that!!!!! Also we came from behind in both!!!!!
