Cornes was talking about Adelaide with I think it was King and was saying how Adelaide are apparently breaking all kinds of records in the gym.

They’re all strong as an ox and on the weekend they only had something like 2 broken tackles (from 105 or so attempts!), which is extraordinary.

Wait, what? The Crows have their own TV show every Sunday morning on channel seven?

It surprises me that clubs have not gone to greater lengths to level up in this area. Strength and conditioning is one of the few parts of the football department where you can recruit the best people from anywhere in the world. Seems like low hanging fruit with significant upside.

I wonder if this is fairly standard stuff across the league or if Adelaide have a genuine competitive advantage with Burgess and co.

I imagine the S&C guys salaries come under the Football Dept soft cap, but the specialist equipment wouldnt and the richer clubs would be getting an edge there.

I have been banging on for several years about our distinct lack of size and strength compared to clubs like Adelaide. RTB was huge on running capacities when he first arrived and everyone dropped weight to cope with the extra running. I think the scale has gone too far that way at the Saints as a group we need to gain some muscle mass and strength to remain competitive in contests.

Agree- the lack of strength in individual contests has been pretty noticeable in many games this season

Surely this puts all this rubbish chat to bed? We are plebs on social media. We don't know anything about what actually happened.
At school it would be called deadleg...you'd be lined up at the canteen to buy your breadroll, to put your packet of twisties into for lunch. ( instead of buying something healthy) and one of your so called mates would come flying through the air with their knee up, thrusting it into your Quadriceps...yelling ....deadleg....and then...your leg...felt dead. The correct medical term is ...deadleg.

Its always the Cats that strike me as ALL being physically huge. How can they all get that big. The suspicious part of my mind suggests they have found a way to deal with doping rules like they have with the salary cap.

Final injury report for the year:

Looks like they still don’t really know when Max will be back. I’d be staggered if the problem doesn’t drag on into next year.
Totally I wish the club would at least state if he would return before Christmas or something.
