We have heaps, so if they are all fit and healthy, which 3 play?

Which 1 or 2 may be in danger of being the first to be shifted back/moved on/traded for list balance?

My current pecking order:-

Pure key fwds
Lynch
Lefau
Armstrong
Bauer
Fawcett
Faull
Gray

Ruck/forward hybrids
Sims
Sampson Ryan

No way would I play Lefau over any of Armstrong, Fawcett or Faull if Lynch is fully fit.

If Lefau is anywhere near the best he showed in the AFL we definitely want him playing while those young blokes:

A) develop in the VFL &
B) rotate in and out of the AFL team.

They and other young players will benefit immensely from the physical presence of a player like Lefau.

Beauty with Lefau is he can actually play multiple positions
and i would much rather Lefau as our 3rd tall than Bauer

Bauer may or may not make it, but I have seen worse players get plenty of games.

But seriously, you are Jack Payne for Lions, which one would you rather line up on? One is going to likely hurt you several times in the match with legal tackles and contests. The other might take one specky over you if everything lines up right in a marking contest.

Lefau is so overrated on here its quite amusing. Both are battlers. The only thing going in Bauer's favour is he is 22 years old.

Apart from goals and assists, Lefau’s numbers looked low in his 10 games. But he was playing in a team in complete disarray, first year in system, after 1 X pre-season, with the only support from Koschitzke & Ryan/Naismith, major amount of his games without a viable midfield. Still, most were agreed he looked pretty good all things considered. Often competing in the air v multiple opponents.

He looks well capable of having a beneficial presence as a 2nd or 3rd tall forward to me.

My KPF rankings:

Lynch - clear number 1 option. Provides leadership, on field coaching and a focal point.

Armstrong - currently the number 2 option given he is playing seniors

Fawcett - when Lynch missed was given his debut. Should be next in line for opportunity.

Faull - will be the ideal compliment to Armstong and Fawcett long term

Ryan & Sims - will be developed as ruck/forwards

Lefau - handy depth option, but not someone I'm expecting to be a long term answer

Bauer - more of a mobile marking mid sized forward than KPF IMO.

My KPD rankings:

Balta - the number 1 option just needs to be left down back to develop in the role.

Miller - 7 years in and he finally looks settled in a role. Could have claims as being our best current KPD

Blight - has been shifted forward but would much prefer him being developed long term down back.

Gray - the draft haul of young KPF talent has seen him revert back to the KPD roles he began with at Essedon VFL. Looks comfortable so far this year.

Gibcus - injuries make it difficult to rank him any higher than this at the moment. Will be interested to see how he fits in once fit in the 2nd half of the year.

Young - similar to Lefau up forward, handy depth option as we rebuild, but I don't see him as a long term answer.

Trainor & Brown - long term Vlastuin & Broad replacements as mobile mid sized interceptors with better ball usage

All up a solid spine to build around as we begin the rebuild in earnest.

Bauer won't make it imo. Lynch gets a game for seniority, and Armstrong continues to hold his spot.

It's really hard to pick the 3rd without being too top heavy, so I imagine injuries and form at the time will decide. I'd probably be keen to rotate games between a few of them though this year, may as well give them all a taste.

It’s a great opportunity for them.
Key p fwd spots don’t come along very often.
The way Armstrong keeps on presenting and wanting the ball for mine is bloody great.
Lynch
Armstrong

Hope we get to see Simms have a run, saw him in the club website marking.
Looked like an Easter egg in his hands.
I know he’s had some moments that were a bit disappointing but I like Bauer, may not be a KPF but his marking is elite.
Bauer third spot for mine.

It's not that hard IMO, you only need to watch the VFL game on the weekend to realise it's Faull, Armstrong & Sims (fwd/ruck)

Lefau doesn't come close to taking their spots in the future. Fawcett is the difficult one, has shown some promise as well and if he continues to improve he might be too good investment if one of the Adelaide teams come calling (most likely Port).

Surely you could only think that if you judging his performances without any thought of the situation he was in.

A few games into his career and he's playing as the no.1 forward option and at times, the only kinda tall target in a forward line that got infrequent and awful delivery.

That's just about as hard of a start for any forward that you will EVER see and yet he competed well and kicked goals in 8/10 games for 1.4 per game.

Tall forward always start very slow, so I think you will find his numbers actually stack up well historically still

Right now I only like the idea of Lynch, Armstrong and a fwdRuck Balta or Blight (When Gibcus is available Balta's not taking Millers spot so where does he go?). I'd fast track the development of Armstrong/Fawcett/Faull interchanging the 3 throughout the year. Ryan or Simms I only see getting a game if Nank gets injured or they're kicking 4/5 consistently in the VFL. I like Lefau & Bauer but I'd rather us be developing the better talent.

He turns 27 in June, he is still learning the game, you said as much yourself. He has had 2 knee reconstructions, Would rather see we invest time in Faul, Armstrong, Fawcett & Sims.

Only time you would even consider Lefau is if Lynch is out injured. Might seem harsh but that's how it is.

lefau is the same age as taranto and typically talls don't play til as long as midfielders can, and with all of what Coach_Required mentioned about lefau in the comment above, if you don't think taranto is going to be there for our next flag, why would you bother putting any time into lefau unless literally every single kpf we have is injured at the same time
