Absolutely must throw everything we can at getting Tom Boyd. You would have to sacrifice a Gibbs or Yarran plus Warnock and a pick but its more than worth it for the luxury of having a 12 year full forward who will be a star.
A gun FF is not much good if you're not capable of getting the ball to him, can't see us trading Gibbs when we're already light on for quality midfielders. Would rather see us going for someone like Frawley so we can shift Hendo forward permenantly, or even Patton who would be cheaper (and arguably a better fit for us) than Boyd.

It might be good to break up the 3 amigos, so if Betts goes chasing the money I wouldn't be trying to keep him. Yarran has lifted the last few weeks, just needs to work on the mental toughness side of the game.

Outs:
Betts (FA)
Dale, Joseph, Davies, Collins (DE-LIST)
Scotland (RETIRED)
Hampson, Lucas (TRADE)

How much we delist depends on a variety of factors such as the quality of the upcoming draft, any FA targets that come our way, if Betts leaves and if Scotland retires or not. So I'm going to delist in order so that we cut as deep or as shallow as we want. However I still think all of these should be delisted if not this year than next.

Delist in order: Frazer Dale, Marcus Davies, Patrick McCarthy, Luke Mitchell, Aaron Joesph, Simon White, Jeremy Laider, Dylan Buckley (put on rookie list), David Ellard, Nick Duigan

Rookie list delist: Andrew Collins, Rhys O'keeffe

Rookie List upgrades: Tom Bell, Jaryd Cachia

Trade if possible: Kane Lucas, Shawn Hampson

That gives us between 8-10 spots on the list to fill, and three rookie spots. But with Scotland retiring, Betts leaving and Cachia kept on the rookie list we could have up to 13 spots to fill.

I posted here earlier but if you guys want a true power forward and you guys do i thought you guys could of won tonight if you guys had a power forward. Krezuer is the guy i would look to trade, you guys say you want Boyd and GWS is open to trade the 1st pick, and what do GWS need? A ruck man, why not trade Krezuer who didn't play tonight and won't play 22 games in a season, i don't see why you guys can't just play Warnock as your number 1 ruck man. I don't know why you guys don't want to do this trade? If you guys had Krezuer tonight would he really made much of a difference? But if you guys had a gun power forward, he could of brought the ball to ground and when you have Garlett and Betts etc crumbing you guys can be more efficient.
Kreuzer isn't going anywhere

There seems to be a little too much comfort about losing Betts. Mostly this is predicated on his age, us not being able to accommodate three small forwards who do not rotate through the midfield and the possibility that he could make way for Menzel, who all want to see more of.

But... Betts is still our best small forward. It's a big call to send him away for a dispute over 50-100K. One age, irrelevant as our window is now. On not being able to accommodate all these smalls, why can't our smalls develop a tank (like Stokes, Christensen) and get in there. We could shred teams with our midfield pace. With Thomas, plus our current mids, we could have a midfield rotation of Judd, Murph, Gibbs, Thomas, McLean, Jeffy, Yaz, Menzel, Bell, Curnow, Carazzo.

Allowing Eddie to leave now only makes sense if the money makes it a choice between him and Daisy. That I get.

I think part of the problem is with Betts, garlett and Yarran....while they can be match winners. They disappear too often in games and Betts ain't worth close to 500k plus. As Malthouse said we need more players that can go through the midfield. If that means getting rid of one of the 3 to free up more salary cap space then so be it.

I don't think we'll be quite that heavily handed but it will be hard.

Players names McCarthy, White, Laidler and Ellard won't come up this week as there may be currency for at least a couple of them.

We don't have to play our full hand this week but even so, 6 - 8 names may be de-listed in this first round. That alone would indicate that we're very serious.

Not sure I have ever seen "You Guys" used so often in a paragraph. Not sure what you were trying to say but well done.

I think we keep Warnock no matter what we could get with him. I would be open to trading any other Ruckman but Warnock. Has been one of the questions better answered.
Why? What's the point in keeping two top tier ruckman. Especially when we need to be trading to improve our list. When K is fully fit Warnock will find himself playing 50% of the year in the VFL. No use to us. He's at his highest value now, so trade him for a team crying out for an A Grade ruckman.

Proposal
Warnock + Lucas for Pick 9 + Jacksch

Of course this is all hypothetical and just for fun, but GWS get an A Grade Ruckman, a high potential runner, and we get a high draft pick and a high potential KPF.

God no. All he will do is keep players like Buckley or Menzel out of the team. He's past it anyway.

He might teach the players a thing or two about commitment to the contest and a genuine hatred of losing.

You'd think playing alongside one of the greats of the modern era in Judd that our players would have gained some professionalism and desire for the contest. What more inspiration do you need?

In all honesty, everybody who gets drafted to the AFL has some sort of talent. I played juniors for many years against Brandon Ellis and a bloke called Rory Atkins who is on the Adelaide list. Don't get me wrong, Brandon was a superb junior, but Rory is supremely talented on another level; yet, on the other hand, Brandon is a competitive beast while Rory doesn't have that sort of desire for the contest.

Moral of the story? You can have all the talent in the world, whether you become a great player is another thing, and it's all between the ears. When the players realize that they want team success more than anything else, we may get near flag #17.

Let's just hope the players grow some desire and mental toughness over the summer.

Agree. But you do have to consider if you want to bring guys in for one or two years. He would make us better next year but worse the year after.
the club did announce that they wanted two premierships by 2015
judd scotland and waite probably wont be around by then, i reckon they would make a bigger dint in the side than chapman would.

Need to get five quality players and put in as much depth into this squad as possible. The fixture next season is going be tough for the Blues coming sixth.

I think this is just cheap. Everyone who has not played elite sport think that desire is something that can be controlled. I am sure that Rory Atkins would love to have the dedication and the combativeness that Ellis has but this is just like any other attribute; these are not things that can be taught. I am sure that all of our list wants team success but some just do not have the personal attributes to get it. This is not their fault just like it is not their fault if they miss a target or shirk a contest or dont manage to put on weight. Some of them will make it and some wont but it is not because they do not want it.
