Why? What's the point in keeping two top tier ruckman.
So last night a ruck division of Casboult and Rowe would have been a good thing? Even Hampson and one of these two wouldn't have been so good, our best ruck setup is with Kreuzer and Warnock playing.

lol.....post of the year?

Carlton has proved that none of these guys are going to be a-graders but if we put enough of them together we will get pick one?? I assume that you are kidding in which case this is a great post!!
Oh should they give us Coniglio as well? If they are offering...okay..

I think this is just cheap. Everyone who has not played elite sport think that desire is something that can be controlled. I am sure that Rory Atkins would love to have the dedication and the combativeness that Ellis has but this is just like any other attribute; these are not things that can be taught. I am sure that all of our list wants team success but some just do not have the personal attributes to get it. This is not their fault just like it is not their fault if they miss a target or shirk a contest or dont manage to put on weight. Some of them will make it and some wont but it is not because they do not want it.

Hardly cheap, you get criticized in life sometimes, regardless of what you do for a living. In fact, that wasn't even criticism, it was highlighting a fact in the nicest way possible.

Agree that many attributes are innate and cannot be taught, but to say that it is not their fault if they miss a target or shirk a contest or don't manage to put on weight is a bit far-fetched. Humans are creatures of habit, if you practice long enough eventually you will improve. Admittedly, these things don't happen overnight but they can be taught to an extent, and in the case of putting on weight, it really isn't that difficult. Unless you have some sort of medical condition, for example one that prevents you from eating more, I don't buy into that theory.

Everybody wants success, in whatever form that may be. But simply wanting it isn't going to get you far, how much are you willing to actually sacrifice to get there?

Warnock, Yarran and Lucas will get close to pick 1.

Tom Boyd, Daisy Thomas and a few depth midfielders and we are dead set sorted.

I doubt Warnock and Yarran will be going anywhere, we won't be getting the Number 1 pick this year.

I agree that we should go for Thomas and some midfielders, we also need at least one KPD so that Henderson can be released to the forward line, moving forward he is the player that we need to build a forward line around.

Why on earth are you people trading warnock
He has value. You dont get value for average players, and Warnock doesnt have the full set of attributes - he is tall, and can get first use....but he doesnt always put it to our favour.

If we can get good picks for Hampson and Warnock, my strategy would be to trade both, for 2nd or 3rd rounders, pick up Jolly as a delisted free agent (free player who you are having purely as backup if Kruezer goes out), and use our first rookie list pick on a project ruckman.

Yep, cheap was too harsh; I am sorry. Interesting discussion though. I do not believe that in a final or even any other afl game that anyone would shirk a contest by choice. So why does it happen? If it is not because they want to then it must be because of personal attributes. I agree that this can be influenced but I do not agree they can be taught. Years ago Hawthorn had a great ruckman called Lawrence. Brilliant footballer but just too nice a guy. Lasted a couple of years and then got delisted.

Keep hampson and trade warnock.

Warnock has more currency and hampson works better with Kreuzer as he offers something other than tap work.

Suspect Lucas is out the door already and this is why he has not been selected of late. Give n our lack of run and his ability to run can only think this.

Project Levi to be shut down, project Rowe maybe given another season.

Keep Eddie and Yarran, trade Jeffy.

Scotland to retire.

Get Daisy.

Draft only kids who can hit a target.

My two bobs worth.

I don't know, since Warnock has been back in the side i have seen our players getting plenty of advantage from his tapouts and honestly i son't see that Kreuzer can carry the ruck on his own all the time, we seemed to be playing some pretty good football with them both in the side.

I agree we should have a project ruckman but for me you need both Warnock and Kreuzer so that third guy is ready by the time one or both of them is no longer around. No way should we entertain Jolly, Collingwood didn't even bother trying to trade him, i don't see the point in weakening our ruck stocks like that.

Hampson is expendable, Warnock is our best ruckman, i don't see the sense in throwing that away on a speculative pick.

Since we now have pick 12, what's the likelihood of crouch or lennon sliding out of the top 10?

I've got Sheed, Bontempell, Freeman, Salem, Dunstan, McCarthy, Lennon and Crouch around the 6 -15 range.

Now that the season is over, heres my thoughts:

Delist (No Value) - Joseph, Davies, Collins, Dale
Trade or Delist if no interest - Duigan, Ellard
Delist and Rookie if not taken elsewhere - Mitchell, McCarthy
Trade (for value) or Keep - Hampson, Warnock, Lucas, Armfield, McLean, Laidler, Yarran
Lose as Free agent - Betts (Hopefully his $$ value would dictate a 1st rounder)
Retire - Scotland, Waite (if he doesnt feel up to it)
Promote - Curnow, Bell
Need to secure Gibbs (contract extension this year to stop any Free Agency bullshit next year)

Players to look at in offseason - only for right price:
Watts, Delaney (Luke), Karnezis, Staker, Docherty, Thomas (FA), Adams, Bruce, Jacksh, Patton, Boyd, Kersten, Hallahan, Gaff, McKernan, Jolly (DFA - if we trade both ruckmen), Horsley (DFA)

You dont throw them away for a shit pick, but if you can get top 40 for Warnock, and top 60 for Hampson, we're doing ok.

Jolly would be dirt cheap, and cost us nothing to bring on the list as a delisted free agent.

Pretty good summation there. Might add Mitch in there to the list for trade (value). Very keen on GWS lads. Skilled footballers required. Off-season of improved fitness, skills & tackling.

A smart club will offer a pick around 25-30 for Hampson and actually play him as a ruckman, where he will excel. The suggestions of him only being worth pick 60 are ridiculous.

He is a fully developed ruckman who will very likely flourish if afforded the responsibility of being the number one ruck.

Think that Jolly is an over opinionated with his media work & may well be a major off field pain in the A but MM would have a good handle on his worth to a club. If we do offload our rucks to our draft/trade advantage then Jolly would be a cheap and serviceable backup.
