re: players like Robbo & Bell on the trade table.

Does the fact that (despite their weaknesses) they possess a remarkable amount of mongrel and intensity for the contested ball/man hold them in greater stead than more conventional midfielders?

ie. Are the sum of their parts and what they bring to the team more valuable than raw statistics? Can we place a value on that and accept the good with the bad?

Personally, I love seeing them both out there as it creates an air of unpredictability about our team, and it ensures the opposition always needs to keep an eyes out for them lest they cop a smashing.

I think what they both have can't be taught - it's purely instinctive - but if they can both learn to harness and focus their aggression, and recognise their limitations, their combined efforts will go a long way over the coming years in making us a force to be reckoned with.

Hhmmmmm Interesting if true, going to be a lot of nervous boys if this true MEB
I'm nervous and freaking out, I can't imagine how they must feel! One of my friends helps Ellard with the business he's setting up and is mates with a lot of the boys, I'll have to ask him how they're doing. I hate this time of year.

I'm interested about all these trades. Do we have anything that anybody wants? I don't think we have much choice but to build through the draft.

Indeed MEB, bit rough on Laids IMO, and Davey hhmmmm, done the calf pretty bad and never got back to playing solid footy like he was before he went down, if this is any sort of indication of what is ahead, then we all will be discussing things for awhile one feels.

I like Laidler. I dont understand why he is being treated the way he has. I believe he would of been valuable down back this season.

Friday at the training session, I saw mick working one on one with Levi and his kicking... Levi is going nowhere.

As for Hampson vs knockers on the trade table, we'll probably put both of them out there and trade whoever gets the nibbles.

I think that there have probably been some inquiries into Lucas already and we might be working on a package of Lucas and another player for someone.

Outside of that, let's wait til wednesday

Hampson of the expected delistings is the only one with trade value. I'm surprised that Davies & Joseph aren't on that list, Duigan would be unlucky to go imo as I don't think he has had a fair go this year.

My list of departures are :

Laidler - Delist
Betts - Free Agency
Hampson - Trade
Davies - Delist
Joseph - Delist
Ellard - Delist
White - Delist
Rowe - Delist

Ins

Bell - Upgrade
Curnow - Upgrade
Thomas - Free Agent

On notice for next year,

Scotland - Retire
McCarthy
Lucas
Buckley
McLean - Retire
Duigan

Players like Yarran & Robinson are a must keep at this stage & the only way I would trade either of them is if they receive a trade which is overs, ie early 1st round pick for Yarran & late 1st round for Robinson.

Did you mean Levi is going nowhere - as in he definitely won't traded?

or

Levi is going nowhere (in footy terms) - cos my grandma has a more reliable kicking action than him?

Fair enough. I think we would be a nice upgrade in that mid range group and add pace. Every now ans then plays a blinder. Loves mick. Would cost nothing.
Think we need younger talent with better decision making ability, skill level and pace.

Melbourne Victory 'til I die!
Probably more option b)

The whole time he has been at Carlton he has made zero improvement in his kicking. A shameful indictment on our player development!
And considering how we stuffed up the development of Mitchell and McCarthy (two potential quality KP's), is it any wonder!!!

With Dusty Martins manager saying he will look at all offers. If Carlton don't make a play at him I will actually vomit and not go to every game next year like I did this year(including interstate games). May not even renew my membership. He is more required than daisy and a 5 yr 3.5mill deal would get him
