I guess you're also wanting the club to bring back Fevola?

The days of what a player does on-field being the only relevant thing are well and truly gone.

What he does off it is just as if not even more important.

No thanks. Not at the price he's after anyway.
Haha of course I love Fev, he had tens of chances though.

Dustin Martin's biggest misdemeanor thus far is missing a training session, I don't think we would have any issues with Dustin at Carlton. We have a relatively quiet bunch who don't strike me to really be a group of 'party boys' so I really think it wouldn't be an issue. For me it's simple: will he makes us better. Yes. Is he better than what we have. Yes. Do I back Mick, Rob and our leadership group to handle him. Absolutely.

To everyone saying they dont want the off field issues. Would you rather win one final every year or win a flag. Every AFL player has a personality as for us we had issues with fev but his were beyond social life his became a problem since he started drinking heavily and becoming depressed as noted. If you look at Heath Scotland for example we all love him regardless of what he does off the field because he is a great player. If we had Martin you would all love him regardless of his off field behaviour. If Marc Murphy or Judd had a personality would you want to get rid of them?

And I dont want to sound like a smart arse but just wake up and think of what is best with us going forward.

Why would Richmond want to keep him if they thought he has serious deal breaking concern though? Remember seeing people on here only a short while ago saying that they would have no problems bringing over Hurley for a first rounder if he wanted to leave Essendon despite the fact that he bashed a cabbie.

People saying that they don't want Dustin Martin really amuse me.

Averages more disposals than any player at Carlton and has had more disposals than any player at Carlton. Is third on Richmond's goal kicking. Is only 22 and is a big strong powerful type capable of contesting and running.

We are desperately short on midfielders and we don't have any players who can go forward and play midfield and do both well.

If we are scared of players with off field issues and players who might be hard to manage then so be it but as a player he is everything we need and so is Dale Thomas.

I hope we aren't afraid of failure and aren't afraid of picking up a player who might stuff up. I hope we aren't afraid to make big calls at the trade table. To be afraid of these things is to be afraid of success.

This is all good and well, but what do we give up for him even in the unlikely case of him wanting to wear navy?
Why is it unlikely? If we can financially compete I don't see why he wouldn't come. Melbourne, Brisbane, GWS, Carlton... I know I'm biased due to being a Carlton supporter but I know exactly where I'd be going!

Despite rumours we actually will have plenty in salary cap after the delisted players get announced and judd took pay cut. We could potentially target Daisy aswell obviously will be hard to snag both. I would much rather Martin as there is less risk involved. As for what we would give up i say we give them back andrew collins haha

Scotland punched some guy and nobody gave a toss. If Martin came over to Carlton and killed it I doubt anybody would care about any past misdemeanors within a few weeks. Hard to compare Martin to fev with Fev's gambling and drinking addiction + cheating on his wife, pissing on pub windows etc.

Completely agree. Even malthouse said "it is hard to find good mature aged midfielders" well 2 are available. I say go for it

Biggest misdemeanor or biggest misdemeanor in the public domain?

There's a huge difference between the two.

It's no coincidence that his attitude, application and behaviour constantly come under fire and I can assure you it's not just because he missed a training session. Don't be so naive as to think otherwise.

That is basically the point i was trying to make. Martin is not as bad as everyone on bigfooty is saying, they are saying they dont want him. Either they don't watch AFL or they don't want their team to improve

I'm purely talking in terms of satisfying the tigers in a trade. Reckon they'd almost let him walk to GWS..

The tiges have to do what is best for them. If he leaves (which he is most likely to do) they will do everything they can to get the most out of it. A number one draft pick may not be the best thing for them as they are up with the best now. They will be looking for some mature aged players. So maybe like yaz or lucas who are ready for senior footy

Getting Thomas + Dustin + clever drafting while developing Menzel, Temay and Graham = midfield problems solved. Judd will likely retire next year since he can't play forward, Scotland is leaving plus a lot of delistings = plenty of cap space.

Matt Thomas from PAFC one of 7 delisted, 26yo inside mid should poll well in mageary medal.

Should we be interested?

No.

Tough as nails but brings nothing to the table by way of skill, speed or anything else.

Let him go to Richmond who are reportedly interested.

heaps plus betts is prob moving on aswell. I think laidler, ellard would of been on an ok salary aswell. Didn't judd just take a pay cut aswell. we will have plenty just get the 2 gun mids and the rest use draft picks so they get the base wage

Don't think so. Martin once shared lodgings with Cotchin and March for off field reasons.

Can you name the last player who we sent to live with Kernahan or Swann to keep him under control?

Wake up and consider why Caro wrote that Richmond aren't willing to overpay to keep Martin.

You can't compare Martin to Judd or Murphy.

Martin, Dayle Garlett and Thorp will get us a flag.

Yeah, Martin's not that bad, Richmond employed a full time minder just for the giggles
