That was not really the context of the discussion. He was more talking about his relationship with Bomber Thompson than stating they were closer to a premiership - although he did say that Essendon were playing for top spot in round 18. In any case, there was no comparison between Essendon and Carlton; implied or explicit.

Bomber was not the coach at the time he had a medical with us and he thought Essendon were better placed than us.

So Brisbane accepted the pick we offered them 2 weeks ago? We were told the trade was waiting on other deals to go through, yet ours is the first trade to go through from the RoyBears? o_O

I guess we can thank Essendon* for taking two weeks to accept the Crameri deal. - to take WB out of the equation, who'd offered that pick for Sam if Crameri stayed put.

Based on what's been said by McKay - it seems we've acquired two best 22 players for 2014. All of a sudden our 22 for R1 looks like this:

B: McIness - Jamison - Tuohy
HB: Simpson - Henderson - Walker
C: Yarran - McLean - Gibbs
HF: Thomas - Waite - Menzel
F: Kreuzer - Rowe/Cas - Garlett
R: Warnock - Murphy - Judd
I/C: Carrazzo - Robinson - Docherty
Sub: Scotland

EMG: Curnow - Bell - Rowe/Casboult

Depth: Buckley, Graham, Cachia, Lucas, Ellard, Watson, Bootsma, Duigan, White, Temay, Armfield + Rookies.

Reckon it's important to get Menz and Doc playing consistent footy asap and Scotto can be used as a regular sub if need be to allow the kids to get more time (similar to how Cats used Chappy in 2013).

I'd also like the following to happen in 2014:

  • Push for top 6
  • Daisy and Doc to each play 20+ games
  • Yarran to improve tank and show improvement and consistency playing through the midfield
  • Judd to rotate forward more often
  • Give kids like Graham and Lucas 15+ games and Buckley 10+
  • Depending on who we draft with 13, I'd love for that kid to be semi-ready made so can come in and play 12+ games in debut year - hasn't happened for a while
  • One of our kids to get nominated for NAB Rising Star - also been an age since this has happened. Doc, Menz or Pick 13 maybe?
  • Finally, push Watson to play 15-20 games in 2014 so we can finally see the transformation of Hendo to our CHF come to fruition
I'm not asking for much, am I?

Wow there are some angry Lions on the Lions board. Already talk of hoping he fails and gets flattened in the next game against us, but I suppose that's par for the course in this situation (though I thought us BlueBaggers were very good with Eddie etc)

Weird thing is the people hating on US for taking him. I mean, so sue us for nabbing a young player who wants to play for us.

Well we've kicked the door in so other clubs can get some deals done...

PA In: Polec, 21, 45 Out: 14, 34

BL In: 22, 34 Out: Polec 29

GWS In 14, 29 Out: 21,22

Port do well if Polec kicks on to become anything. Brisbane did probably as well as they were going to...GWS win regardless.

Anyway, on the topic of list management......if our ploy in this season was to get outside pace, and we have Thomas, and Docherty as in's.....and were considering taking Savage.....then is Lucas unlikely to get another contract?

Boootsma + Lucas to West Coast for ???
Lucas will get a contract as soon as the trade period is done. Didn't end giving him one earlier because we were waitin to see if the weagles came up with someone better than Smith and a third rounder

Drawn out process is an understatement OB.

This trade period has been going so long, Thy's cousins were running around Tassie when it started.

What is it about players coming to Carlton and opposition supporters wishing them ill?

It's a pity, as his hand to eye co-ordination is terrific.

The eyes are very quick but it all seems to slow down after ball is in hand. Could be worked on. Needs more faith in himself.
Needs to slow down half a yard and give himself a second more to allow himself to make the right decision.

they don't shaft teams, they are just smart operators, i have said this before, but a lot of teams should be trying to trade up the table and get more picks like the Giants have been able to
Wouldn't even say they're smart operators.

Let's face it, they wrote their own trade rules hand in hand with the AFL.
