Sounds like Duigan has been cut.

Despite suggestions in the media, I can't see any advantage to having Scotty as a nominated rookie vs being on the senior list, as we can just change the structure (39+5 vs 38+6). If he's a rookie, 50% of his salary is outside the cap, but he would surely lose veteran status as he would need to be delisted, then redrafted as a rookie. As a Vet, we should save $112.5k. He should not be on more than $200k, so it doesn't make sense to delist.

That leaves 9 picks total, hard to know if we'll go 4 ND and 5 rookie or the other way round.
We may give the PSD a hit if there's anything of interest floating about.

9 new draftees looks really heavy to me.
I don't think we set out to have that many picks and if we did , we may have liked to see some close up the order.

If he is willing to buy into Micks' plans then he would have a home, but in the lead up to trade week we saw that he wasnt that interested in buying into Micks' plan and rediscovering himself as a medium forward.

If he does end up staying, I suspect that he will be playing in the VFL for the year. Unless we have a blight of injuries in the third tall dept.
Don't agree with this Dram at all.

First things first Laidler was a rock in defense for us...ideal third tall. Injured through our mismanagement, he should rightly expect an opportunity to win his spot back. Instead he see's Bootsma sent out like a lamb to the slaughter, and McInnes persevered with when seriously labouring late in the season. He's come through the Geelong system...he's no wide eyed rookie.

I like that he had the gumption to go to MM and fight for his spot, but I can see that MM wouldn't.

I'm not sure.
We were clear that there would be major list changes, and Mick said it would be 75% draft (which for senior list would be 6 picks for our 2 FA/traded players).

We may still get Everitt, though I can't say I see in him whatever Mick does (that said, nobody could see in Leigh Brown what Mick could).

MM said he'd go heavy on Trades/Delistings, of which there must be a quote in here somewhere H-Man.

We've already traded for 2 First 22 players..............god knows what tomorrow's Xmas fest will yield.

All in all, reckon we are on track.

something, something, something.........................Process. :thumbsu:

He was badly mismanaged by the previous regime... and it appears to have basically crippled his career as a third tall. He wasnt the fastest in the world before the injuries and then having his kneecap dislocated 3 times in 12 months, he has lost a yard of pace mostly because of a severe lack of confidence that his knee would hold up to the rigours of playing in defence.

Mick probably wanted to move him into the forward line where his loss of pace wouldnt affect his game and he didnt seem to want to buy into it. While I admire him for wanting to stick with the role he feels most comfortable, it appears as sour grapes when he doesnt want to try and adapt to a new role and position in the club.

I would have loved for him to come back into the side last season and really kill it in defence again... but as it turned out, both him and Duigan fell out of favour with Mick and were a non-event for the year (apart from Duigan popping up with 4 against Premiershipmond)
