There's a much more simple solution. Just buy a 3 game Blues membership its not expensive, take a photo and send it to thylacine60 as validation; he's being touted as the next super-mod. In doing so, you'll solidify your belonging to our group, improve our perception about Tiger supporters generally, and you'll be able to post your insightful thoughts in our threads to your hearts content.

No.

Just jotting down all our players that can be considered as mids and seeing what their secondary roles may be.
Given we have as many Mids (including wingers) that should all have claims for senior spots, they'll all at times need to settle into other roles.

Cripps - CHF
Setterfield - Forward pocket
Kennedy - HFF
Fisher - Wing / HFF
SPS - Wing / HFF
Walsh - Wing / HFF
Dow - Wing / HFF
Stocker - HBF
O'Brien - HBF
Cuningham - HFF & run with shut down role.
ECurnow - HFF - & shut down role.
Murphy - Small forward
Polson - HBF / shut down role.

That's the way I see it for now.

Hard to be sure about Stocker without actually seeing him play a but I remember reading somewhere that he was pretty good forward as a junior add to his having a weak tank, would suggest hff rather than hbf may be his go (for now).

Would love for him to turn into deGoey style weapon forward and in the middle.

Suggestions of good burst away from stoppage, footy smarts, being dual sided, mongrel and arrogance say to me that this is a possibility.

Hopefully he knows where the goals are.

Let's face it, we have a great bunch of lads, but I don't think we really have that arrogance in the team at all (maybe Charlie?) Need that in moderation.

Now that you guys are building a nice list of quality mids that can rotate through, do yiu expect Cripps to spend more time forward this year?
With his mobility and size he could be an awesome chf.

Not quite, he's still going to play heavy minutes in the midfield until the younger guys (Kennedy, Dow, Setterfield, etc) step up. Might not see him playing forward much more than a 2-3 minute cameo here and there in 2019.

Hopefully he’s on target with his goal accuracy, makes a big difference slotting them for confidence, scoreboard factor and not giving up immediate possession.

Cripps to half forward flank at times in a game maybe but he will always start midfield on the ball surely. Its like saying Peter Hudson is handy at tackling lets shove him in the centre as a tagger. Well you wouldnt.
He is a huge midfielder but not huge against a big CHB.

There is now plenty of talent stocked up through our midfield group.
How do we see this group working? Who will jump out and who may drop down the pecking order?
Can we play them altogether and if so, what other roles will some be asked to take up?

#13 Cripps_#1 Walsh_#3 Dow_#5 Setterfield_#6 Petrevski-Seton_#13 Kennedy_#19 Stocker_#27 Fisher

This group has the potential to play up to 10 years together. Do we need more midfielders now, or do we sit on this group and look elsewhere for talent?

You might be able to add Cuningham to that list if he breaks out this year.

There's not much point paying big bucks for a star from another club, then having to move one of these guys on because they won't get opportunities. Not to mention increasing the expectations of payments to current players.

Our needs are

-small forward
-rebound defenders
-a young developing ruck (assuming dekonning takes over from k in 2 years, we will needs another developing).

I'm happy to stick with what we've got in the guts, Murphy and Curnow will do some heavy lifting while the others develop.

IIRC the plan was definitiely for Cripps to go forward regularly at the start of 2018. And it seemed to be working in our purple patch in round 1. But Kennedy got injured, as did others and I feel the plan had to be put on hiatus. This year I see a resumption of the cripps forward. Cant see him as a CHF though

Cripps drifting forward based on what we saw last night is an opposition planning nightmare. Hope he can bring it to the real stuff.

Yes, yes it was. Occurred in the JLT but injuries robbed us of moving him out the centre square where possible due to his overpowering clearance numbers and the lack of help through there.

Still needs to hit the scoreboard to advantage the times up forward. Not the straightest shooter from set shots but almost goal of the year against his name last season from a breakaway from the contest on the wing at the MCG but off target on the kick.

I expect Cripps to have little breaks up forward at times but he will prove himself to be as good as any mid in the AFL this year. He is also now Captain. You leave him where he plays his best and that’s midfield

Interesting side note is Kennedy was in the same draft and has missed as much as Cuningham with injury. Patience needed with him as well. Still a kid

Fisher was awarded the team MVP by Jack Riewoldt. All the lads from other clubs seem to love him - video of him accepting the award posted all over Instagram.

Obviously there's not much to take out of AFLX, but Fish is ooooozing confidence ATM and I bloody love that from a young player. Definitely my favourite player right now. Star.
Mate how good was his side steps on the night they couldn’t lay a glove on him the slippery little fish.

Indeed, the young guys aren't quite there yet and we can't afford for Cripps to be spending too much time away from the centre square.

I think we missed Fisher just as much too on Thursday, what a little jet. His development has been outrageous.

That word.....the thing that didnt happen with our young blokes for years. Why?... we can only shake heads and wonder.
Now its happening with all of them.

My take on this years midfield

Cripps Curnow Murphy are AFL ready. Cripps elite the other 2 very good. These three need to stay fit for better results
Very close to or will be stepping up. SPS Fisher & Kennedy. Talent is there and now fit, it's now about consistency
Charlie will play a lot of midfield. Went in there on Thursday and looked very good. Wish we had two of him because he is a natural midfielder.
I think Gibbons will be vital as year goes on. Mature, hungry and smart.
We will see flashes of brilliance and some great games from Dow Walsh Setterfield & O'Brien but they still need experience
Stocker is raw but will get games and show his talent. Once AFL fit will adjust quickly
Hoping to see Lang play at some stage and be fit. A fit Pickett would be an awesome wingman. Fingers crossed
If Williamson can get fit and Garlett step up don't be surprised to see Newman spend time in the middle. Smart and a big body.
Cuningham & Polson can still play midfield minutes when required but I see their major roles elsewhere.

It's late 2020/21 where they will ALL step up and gel. 2019 is a lot about development and improvement but there will be a lot of exciting moments
