Yep. If he ends up an All Australian and Brownlow Medalist that leads the team with intent for the next ten years I’m ok with paying him Cotchin dollars.
look he is on big brass at the afl run club as it is. unfortuantely these are the dollars you need to put up. if he does what you said it would be great richo

Let’s just see how the next 4-5 weeks go before definitively labelling us a bust.

Fact is we got it wrong at selection, Soldo and Graham were underdone and should never have played. With Prestia going down so early we were already too top heavy carrying a couple Of players. Round 1 is easy to run out of puff at the bess of times. Let’s just cool the jets before writing the obituary lads

Without Prestia on the park we do have the worst midfield going around.

Graham is so overrated by the fanboys its not funny. He is a slow plodder than gets smashed by half decent players.

No one is trading for Prestia. Big coin and too injury prone. We can thank Fartley for him and Lynch.

Lynch and Prestia's contracts are now going to hold us back from a timely rebuild.

lol I agree Prestia is now cooked, but did you see his 2017 finals series. That trade was a massive win even if he never plays again.

Lynch IMO is the reason we won 19 as his second half of the year and prelim got us through. He has been average since but who cares post flags.

Oh man we sure can.

Prestias goal in the 2017 grand final will forever be etched in my memory. And 2 in the 2020 grand final including a crucial one to start the 4th quarter. How good was he in the semi final against Geelong that series? 31 and a goal.

And his 2019 year was absolutely huge, winning the B&F in a premiership year.

How big was he in the prelim? 28 possies and a couple of goals. And 32 possies against Brisbane in the qualifying final, along with Dusty leading the way to an incredible win in opposition territory.

And Lynch. That 2019 flag wouldn’t have been ours if he hadn’t have taken the game the week before by the scruff of the neck in the second half. 63 goals that year including 9 in the finals.

And that huge mark in the square at a vital time in the 2020 grand final to keep us in the game. Not to mention his match winning mark in defence on the siren the week before which was decided by less than a kick.

List managers are judged on team success and the recruitment of Prestia and Lynch helped deliver us flags.

So thank you Blair.

Well said, some people will never be happy no matter the success we have had. Grabbing Prestia and Lynch was just awesome work. As you said, thank you Blair.

The new Richmond won't kill our future long term success for today's gain only,
We just won't replicate Brisbane, Geelong,Hawks triple flag falls by doing what they did.
Rebuilding is a longer process which will mean we target good young players from other clubs after cotch etc retire.
Yes our midfield was just about all time hiding as cotch, Graham, Edwards 42 touches against blues top 3 mids 92 touches,(ouch).

Ross had 6 score involvements, we had only 21. 35% for a wingman is not sh*t no matter how hard you try to swing it.

Lol. 3 turnovers in the last quarter two of them returned for goals. All he did was kick down the line or handball at his teammates feet.

Ross was recruited as an inside mid, let him bloody play there and develop. He had 0 centre bounce attendance on Thursday, he’s not an endurance beast that can control a wing.

Bolton only had 9 centre bounce attendances, he plays his best footy there FFS, this shifting players around is 2012 shit.

Houli got the tap on the shoulder and he was not on much money, yeah i thought done as well but it would have been a lot better value keeping him on than Cotchin imo
You don’t tap your captain on the shoulder a year after lifting the cup for the 3rd time. We get rid of Jack and Cotch last season that does far more harm than any good. How have the hawks fared after pissing off hodge, Mitchell and Lewis?

Perhaps instead of 2 HBFs with good picks we could have taken any of the several big mids still available?
That might have been similar level to RCD , Ross , Martyn ?

I am extremely happy with Brown, Gibcus & Sonsie and who knows what Banks and judd turn into

All this talk of Prestia being done/career over…I find it strange that there is no news yet of the severity of the hamstring injury.
Knowing his history, it sounds like 8 weeks with us being cautious. However, what if it was only a light strain? It might only be 2-3 weeks or so. There’s also a strong chance he makes a lot of people on this board look silly

Question is who in our team you put on the big mids like Cripps, Bont, Petracca. There is no one in our side I’d feel comfortable doing that. Maybe Pickett would have the Mongrel but would give away free after free

All players are a risk based on their level, the draft is an unknown. There's no guarantee our picks won't all be duds.

We blatantly ignored the need based on player type/ position which is one thing you can control though.

Its 0-1 not 0-5! Lets have some faith. Surely the focus will be the kids once our season is shot! Till then its fair for dimma to challenge the veterans and give some if the kids a go. We had gibcus n hugo playing and rcd to join next. Enjoy the ride! Lets not forget the jiurney this gun side went through before getting to glory. Go tiges
Let's not forget the 37 years of misery why worry about the past? The thing is now and we are a very weak side that will struggle. People talk about our younger players which none has taken off like some other teams. Rcd Ralf Dow Martin so on just talk the fact Ross Aarts Castagna still get games is proof of that. The aging players are just that, able to play a great quarter and a bit, and that's it can't carry us anymore. In the last game we went in so big we just didn't have any run. We looked ok for a bit but it was the case of them being a poor side who are going nowhere even with their so-called superstars.
We tied up some money on the older players and never even with our success brought in a couple of decent midfielders which have been the achily heals even when we won the flags. We are in for a long journey unless a miracle happens like 2017.

I doubt any real supporter is happy about all of prestias injuries and wants him to be done. Here's the facts though including his getting injured a month ago during the preseason he has been injured TWICE and played 1/4 of a single game. The previous 2 seasons he averaged 9 games and broke down in 3 or 4 games each season many times towards the start of the game leaving us down a number. He had one season where he miraculously played 25 games surrounded by seasons where he missed great number of games. His body has let him down his entire career and it only gets worse with age. I don't think I properly stretched before I was 16. Fast forward 10 years if I didn't have a radox bath after a game I hobbled. Prestias played a massive part in our flags but when you factor in he came to us on a 5x $720 deal on a pro rata basis considering Dusty hardly missed a game prestias been on more coin than Dusty.

No, two kicks he put in resulted in goals and 4 others points. Yes one bad kick turn-over in the last and one handpass, which he normally hits. We turned the ball over all night. You can't just rewrite 3/4 of the game based on your own prejudice and a couple of bad blues in the last. Many on here have said he played well, so somewhere in the middle is probably the closest.

How are we going to improve our midfield though if we neither recruit nor draft many contested mids? While I’m happy with those 5 picks as individuals, I have concerns that we missed a big opportunity to set up our next group of midfielders (especially contested midfielders). If we tried and the mids we picked ended up as busts then no worries. We could say that we tried but it was just too tough to recruit good midfielders with the success we had in recent years.

But we can’t really say that right now because we haven’t done enough with the opportunities we had since 2016 IMO.

It's just one game of a fresh season. Perhaps we went in too tall or perhaps fitness is an issue who knows. Let's see how things unfold over the next 2 rounds. I am sure the tune will change if we are 0-3 or 0-4. If it doesn't then i agree with your sentiment.

Some of the comments here are embarrassing.

I can agree we have some issues to sort out but ffs...

"Don't have a strategy anymore"

"List manager fail"

"Morons in charge of development "

"Worst midfield in the comp"

"List is cooked"

"Soldo worse than Angus Graham"

WE HAVE PLAYED ONE GAME THIS SEASON YOU MELTY campaignerS

What I saw was a midfield that was too small for the one it faced, lost the best player to injury, and had an undone Graham. In the game Cotch was outdone, and the rest were poor.

Basically we lost it in selection and to injury. Dimma and co were too 'smart'.

After the game Dimma said we were beaten by a midfield that was too big and strong. I hope he listens to himself and se go in for a bigger stronger midfield from here on in. Sacrifice some talent/experience to just be able to hold our own physically. And that would help RCD and Dow's development. With any luck they'll hold their own and our midfield will be better for it.
