It's preseason and I'm bored. The draft game is nearly done and it's time to focus on the real team going forward.
I thought it might be interesting to hear what people think regarding what is our most talented 22. Not necessarily best 22 right now but 22 with the highest ceiling.

Here's my go:

Brown ~ Hartigan ~ Lever
Laird ~ Talia ~ Doedee
Smith ~ M.Crouch ~ Milera
Jacobs ~ B.Crouch ~ Sloane
Lynch ~ Walker ~ McGovern
Betts ~ Jenkins ~ Menzel
Hampton ~ Cameron ~ Galluci
Atkins

B: Brown - Hartigan - Lever
HB: Laird - Talia - Doedee
C: Smith - M. Crouch - Milera
HF: Lynch - Walker - McGovern
F: Betts - Jenkins - Menzel
R: O'Brien - B. Crouch - Sloane
I: Hampton - Cameron - Gallucci - Atkins

E: Knight - Wigg - Greenwood

Similar to your side but I'd have O'Brien in over Jacobs. Think Jacobs is on the decline.

Knight extremely unlucky to miss out. Wigg and Greenwood two fantastic emergencies

It's a pretty good looking squad isn't it. Grab an A grade mid end of the year to add to it and we will be top 4 comfortably.

My one concern would be ball winning; I think we'd be better off with one extra inside or inside/outside mid in the side. That is, unless Milera, Cameron, Gallucci, Atkins, Smith or Hampton can increase their ball winning ability

surely Knight ahead of Wigg

fwiw though I would be totally on board if we trotted that side in Round 1

B: Keath - Laird - Lever

HB: Dodee - Talia - Cameron

C: Seedsman - Knight - Smith

HF: Menzel - Walker - Lynch

FF: Milera - *McGovern- Betts.

Ruck: *Jenkins(on condition he learns to chase. Dont care if he cant ruck as he is in there for breakaway speed. Rotates with Gov at FF. If JJ can do it Gov can too) Sloan, Brouch.

I/C: MCrouch, Rat, Greenwood, O'Brien or Hampton(depending on matchups).

E: CEY, Sauce, Brown, Wigg or anyone killing it in the 2s.

Wings play high defensive role as they both have the leg power to burn.

Menzel to get his tank up to his fellow flanks standard and for both to work up high and back from the wing, leaving plenty of room for Gov, JJ, Milera and Eddie to work their magic.

Good to see some imagination shown in selection and placement.

Sorry if this is an intrusion, but kind of relevant....
Doing a comp draft and I need a Crow from 2000 decade, or 2010 decade.
It's down to Tex Walker, Kurt Tippett from 2000, or Brodie Smith from 2010 decade
(I missed on my favourite all time Crow- Tony Modra)

How highly rated is Smith?
Tex seems the obvious choice.
The other player will come from Freo.

Hope you don't mind the questions

Smith is rated highly but you'd be mad to take him ahead of Walker

Happy to help mate :thumbsu: Personally, I'd be going for Tex. The 2012 version of him was a sight to behold.

I assume the comp is based on the number of stats the player receives so you might want to go with Smith since he's more likely to rack up 20-30 touches a game. Tex's value is quality over quantity and is more likely to hand off a goal than take the goal himself (I'm not sure if that sort of play will help in your competition). Tippett's value might be the forward/ruck combination, but again, I have no idea how your comp works (And Tippett will have his games where he bags 4-5 goals, but will also have games where he goes missing. Plus, he is injury prone). For the record, you can probably pencil Tex in for 50 goals this season if that helps you, I doubt Tippett will get 50, but he is capable of doing this, we simply don't know.

Tex and Tippett will take their share of marks, Smith will kick the ball a lot more than handball if kicks are worth more than handballs in your comp. Smith will kick a couple of goals this season, he's good at sneaking up from the back-line and bombing goals from 50+ maybe once every 2 games. I don't think Smith takes many marks, but he will get his stats.

If you do need a key forward and are running out of options, Tex would be a good option, I wouldn't rate Smith highly enough to pass up on a solid key forward like Tex who will give you a reasonable return for a key forward. But that depends on what key forward options there are available to you and whether you need to nab one before you miss out.

Hope that helps.

It's really just a subjective comp. I need a FP, need a Crow, so choice of KT/TW
Was just checking what people thought of BS- I rate him, mentioned his name to some mates and they said "who"?
Really appreciate the feedback. Nothing serious, just a lot of time to fill in yesterday waiting for a selection.
