Long term selections. Sets us up well in the future.

Ellis - Bottom age player, school footy next year
Dowler - Car accident, lucky to play for Box Hill by May
Birchall - Bottom age player
Bailey - WA Ruckman 205cm but only 85kg
Muston - Knee reconstruction this year
Tuck - Tucks take a while!

These guys wont make the impact of Lewis, Franklin, Taylor & Roughead, but all seem to be very talented with loads of potential (I hate that word!)

Go Hawks, welcome back to Waverley, looking forward to seeing these kids on the training track

Cant really complain, but we did pick up a bloke with a fractured pelvis and also a bloke who had a knee reconstruction this year, dont any of you see that as potentially a bit of a risk?

Maybe we were better off taking one of Kennedy, Ryder or Clark considering that we had to ability to choose from any of them...

Overall though pretty happy...

We've owned.

Dowler and Ellis were both possible #1's if not for Murphy and Muston was potentially top 5-10. Birchall plays like Goddard at U18 level which is a good thing.

3 - Ellis. Fantastic.
6 - Dowler. Would have preffered Clark or Ryder because they are taller / more versatile but Dowler should be a good player.
14 - Birchall. Was hoping to get him but seeing you guys compare him to Goddard has me worried!
18 - Bailey. Surprised he went this high but very happy to have a guy 205cm.
22 - Muston. Will need some luck with the knee but if all goes well could be the bargain pick of the draft.

65 - Why didn't we just get Guerra now? If Barker or Campbell don't prove thir fitness by December we'll still have PSD picks anyway. What was the logic here?

Overrall - very satisfied. Well done Hawks.

It's merely a comparision based on junior footy in they they are utilities that needs to be moulded into a particular position. It all depends how we groom him. He'll be good.

Guerra only nominated for the PSD.

Dowler looked more in shock than disappointment, which is granted given he has just had a life changing accident.
Well I hope thats the case , I just thought that his reaction , compared to Ellis's , was rather subdued / slightly disappointed .

Heh, yeah, Mum shaking the leg wouldn't help.

But liked his reaction. Seems to be a positive intensity about this kid.

His first worry after the car accident was his football future. His idol is George Gregan because of his enormous work ethic, and Dowler said he wants to be remembered as a hard working, nice bloke.

I was stoked with today's results. Was hoping for Kennedy(3) and Dowler(6), but Ellis sits fine with me. Really happy they took a punt on Muston, though admittedly I only found out recently in another thread he may need a 2nd reco. I hope they've done their homework re. the condition of his knee, but if he can get his body right, he'll be a beauty.
Happy enough with Birchall, and know bugger-all about Bailey.

All things considered, very happy with the club's selections.:thumbsu:

You can take it from me that Beau is absolutely thrilled to be a Hawk and he is breaking his neck to get out on the track. Hawthorn is where he wanted to be, Go Beau :)

Dowler didnt seem too happy when his name was called out for the Hawks I thought ...
Wouldnt worry to much.Cogs had the same look when we drafted him.
Id like to add the Hawks got 2 "bargains" in Ellis[cant believe why the pies didnt take him] and Muston. If muston can get over his Knee he will be a player.Congrats on a very solid draft.
