Some of you might remember my thread I started early in the year talking about our next four weeks. I think we ended up being 1-3 (2-2 at best) in those 4 weeks.

Now what happens? We sit at 5-8. Our percentage is good considering our win:loss ratio. Our next four games are:
vs Carlton @ TD
vs Port Adelaide @ KP
vs Western Bulldogs @ TD
vs North Melbourne @ Manuka Oval

A good Geelong outfit could go 4-0 here. A half arsed Geelong out-fit could go either 3-1 or 1-3. A crap Geelong outfit could go 0-4/1-3.

The big quiestion is: Do we go for Finals OR play the kids and get some good draft picks? Personally at 5-8, i think if we go for finals, it might end in disaster. By round 20, we could be 9-11 or 8-12. No chance of making finals and we look at finishing 9th or 10th.

I believe in my team. I know we are better than the **** we have served up of late (barring the freo game) but i have also came to realise we are not as good as i thought 18 months ago. We are a good solid, hard working outfit and can make finals, but i am hesitant for this year atleast.
Our next month or footy is make or break for this club. Thoughts?

Sorry mate but i think we wont make the finals. As much as i hope we would i just cant see us doing it the way we are playing. We have the talent just need to be better coached.

Shut up shop get a good draft pick and a new coach give the players a HUGE pre season and have a crack next year.

Like you Hulk, i am not interested in making the finals to bow out in the first round.

Like Collingwood last year, get the team firing for next year.

I say go for finals. It's such a waste of a season if they don't try. I pay for my Geelong membership (well my dad actually does... yeah I know lucky me) to go and see our boys try their guts out each week to win games and hopefully one day play in a grandfinal AND WIN.

If we start playing the young kids and forget about our older guys then the older guys wont wanna play for the club if they aren't getting a game. If it got to the stage where it is impossible for us to make the finals then I'd like to see some younger guys getting a go like Batchelor, Grima, Koula and Prissa. BUT like I said when playing the younger guys it's important not to forget the older guys!!!

We should be able to beat Carlton, if we don't then we are definately playing for draft picks.
It'll be a close one against Port at home, but we should (yes, we should) beat them too.
The Dogs are too quick and will out run us. Wont be like Round 4 this year by 1 point.
50-50 against the Kangaroos, but both teams are playing away which cancels each other out, but we are a better side. Should beat Kangas.

So, after the next four weeks, we should be 8-9, but its Geelong, you just never know.

We've got the Hawk and a good draft is coming up. Number 3 isn't necessarily going to be all that much better than number 10 so this Tank stuff is bollocks.

We will drop the Bullies game and be 8-9. Cripes...tank talk..how about a WINNING culture..it sure beats the whining culture as we (us supporters that is) try to deal with our team's half ar5ed year.

Come on Cats. GET TOUGH.

Should at least be 8-9...

All this tanking talk is rubbish...complete and utter rubbish.

8-9... that's almost exactly mediocre! Too late for the tank and anyway, 1 or 2 new gun players does not make the difference between mediocre and A grade premiers. So tanking's useless. Look at Carlton - Marc Murphy's a fantastic pick-up and they're still near the bottom (not to mention the poor bugger's hurt himself). Dale Thomas looked to be making a difference too, but not bottom to top difference. It's their existing squad that have picked up the pace.

Hawkins is almost a walk in player to the side but he is still going to take a while to adjust to playing at the AFL level. Any other draftee we pick up is going to take possibly a few years to get the experience and conditioning required to really make an impact in AFL football. So getting good draft picks doesn't equate to a champion team that wins the GF strait away...if that was true then Richmond or the Aints would of won back to backs.

We must play in form players and play to win . The performance of this team since the middle of last year has been ,apart from the odd game, bottom 4 material. Start reversing the losing culture and get back to at least fighting games out to the end and we may pinch a few victories.
Not too many though, the coaching staff may stay????
With Hawkins plus a pick between 4 and 8, we will have 2 very very good players and prismall and varcoe will be ready next year...

Would love to be able to predict what might happen, but we're all Geelong supporters so we know how futile that is.

If I had to take a wild stab, I would see us at 8-9 after the next four - Carlton, Port at home and kangas would seem to be teams we should have the measure of, but I can easily see us dropping one of them. We can't surely lose more than two out of these games!

The Bulldogs will probably smash us, so I'm going to write that one off.
