Providing GWS keep their grubby hands off him, I'd love to see Marc Murphy leading the club with Michael Jamison and Kade Simpson as co-vice captains.

I love him, but at this stage, I'd hate to see Gibbs leading the club. He looks like a follower out on the field and whilst I have no problem with this, that is not the attitude required for a captain. Murphy, Jamison and Simpson very rarely fail to lead by example.

He is still a kid.
For all we know in 3 years time his game may have completely changed. He is still learning

Lotta love for Jamison. Hard to argue with that.

Somebody mentioned Robbo (I assumed it was in jest) but it's not a ridiculous concept. He's alot like Ling, a real crash-and-bash maniacal type midfielder/stopper who can also go forward and kick goals. The sheer intensity with which he plays I'm sure lifts all those around him on the field.

why do people choose JR, what is he a leader in? Clangers?

woop woop woop!

personally I would like to think Murphy, Kreuz maybe Jamo.

Fail.

It's getting old now.

He has been great the last two years, he's in the leadership group and is hitting his straps now after a slow start this season. He steps up when we need someone and shows great maturity.

let us all pray now JR is Back.

Duka Duka Duka!

Crystal ball stuff but at this stage Jamo would be my first choice.
Murphs is another option but don't fancy handing the captaincy to someone who is prepared to hold the club to ransom.

He shows nothing of the poise and balance of Ling, or the discipline in his play.

Has a long way to go before our impulses should force us to say his name ahead of Jamison, Simpson, Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuzer, Henderson, Russell, Carrazzo and possibly more.

When Judd was suspended, who were our captains for the first three rounds?

Simpson, Carrots and ...?

yeah i know, he loves to throw a barrage of abuse onto young guys when they make a mistake, and he just loves blaming others around him for his short falls and stuff ups,,,,but with some serious anger management classes, some calming oil scents lit around his locker before games and perhaps Ratts whispering gentle ocean sounds into his ear.... i'm sure he could blossom into that person...............;)

But we will have better options.

Debatable.
Bryce Gibbs IMO is captaincy material. His major assets are that he reads the play well, has good footskills and is extremely versatile. Additionally, from what i have seen of him, he speaks fairly well in the media. Regardless of whether this indicated the positioning of the club or not, Bryce was in the leadership group as an 18 year old. That obviously means he has leadership potential.

At the moment, his major negatives are that he fades out of games at times, is probably a tad immature as a footballer, and he looks disinterested at times. The 1st two negatives will develop over time. I don't think a captain can look lethargic when playing, but if this attribute is corrected, there is no reason for him not to be captain.

Obviously this is all hypothetical, and i am by no means Bryce Gibbs biggest fan, but his major assets are things that are wanted from a Captain.

Just back to Marc Murphy for a second.

Before this round he was ranked 3rd in the competition (if I'm not mistaken, might have been 4th. He was definitely above Swan) for contested possessions, behind Watson and Judd respectively.

Fair to say he is pretty hard at the footy and imposes himself physically. Also is up there in the tackle stats as someone else mentioned.

I would LOVE to see one of the #1's get the captaincy after Judd. Preferably Murphy, but would still love to see it given to Gibbs or Kreuzer.

I understand there's a lot of love for Jamo, and I think he would make a great skipper too. But one of the #1's being made skipper would almost be a fairy tale story. And nobody can argue that Murphy doesn't deserve it with the year he is having.

I guess the only question (which none of us can answer in my opinion) is who is the least likely to let the added pressure of the captaincy affect their game in a negative way?
