Our next coach

The fact it's so hard to look at our other coaching staff and think they look promising give them a go shows how average a group has been assembled.

Don't pick Ratten just because you loved him as a player. I know he played for us and coached us before, but he couldn't coach defence to save himself last time he was coach

My issue with Ratts (at the time and now) was he hadn't been with a successful club and he needed a stint to gain that last bit of knowledge he was lacking. Yes his Defense was awful.

After his stint with the hawks I think the next team he coaches will be a premiership team.

Bolton seemed to have very little tactical nous as a coach.

He seemed more suited to a role like Neil Craig had at the club before he left.

I doubt we have moved Bolts on without a replacement waiting in the wings. Whoever it is they will have the players to take this proud club to greater heights. I imagine he will not be the first casualty.
Wiil we empanel three greats of the game to oversee the selection of our next coach and go through due diligence as seems to be the favoured MO?!

I hope Bolts isnt paraded in front of the media like Scott, I would like to see more than a prepared script.

I think this is an indication that, whatever was said publically, the club believed this year would be the start of the climb. Then after some close losses early in the season, the group dropped their heads and the belief seems to have evaporated.

Frustrating to think that mere seconds in the Gold Coast and Hawthorn games could have dramatically changed our current situation.

Somebody made a comment earlier that the two "performances" dished up by the team after a "players only" meeting have been damning, and it's hard to disagree. I don't think the players would have agreed to play **** to get the coach sacked, but I do wonder just what is going through their heads.

We were sold a message, a long term one, 4 years ago, that we would strip back the list and invest in the draft. Patience was required and asked for. Members have agreed with it, as our memberships have spiked.

All of a sudden, people have had enough. Club is either invested in a long term strategy or you're not.

What is the strategy now?

Hope I am wrong and we can go on and show drastic improvement. But **** me, old school Carlton back at it again. short term over long term. back to square one with shortcuts and scapegoating.

When you have 4 players over 100 games on the weekend and 2 of them are Casboult (albeit in good form) and Fasolo, then good luck to the next bloke trying to turn this around.

Before we worry about appointing the new coach we should be concentrating on appointing the best group of people to select him.
The sub committee that selected Bolton should not be anywhere near the process of the new appointment.
Is there any accountability at this club????????
I cannot believe that the club actually pays C.Judd in any managerial and/or directional capacity - have a look at his past corporate/business achievements - the guy is taking the piss, he should be the first to fall on his sword along with our all inspiring president- that is if they have any semblance of integrity/accountability.

Clarkson 0% and is contracted until 2021. Our coach is already locked in as a I mentioned last week - BB days outnumbered and we have a coach lined up who was very out of favour at his last club. He has a current contract and it will surprise a lot of people but he already has a relationship with a few players on the list.

I was watching McIntosh walking on and off the ground yesterday.

Looked like he couldn't give a crap and wanted to be anywhere but at the game.

Thats how his body language seemed.

Should be replaced by Matt Lobbe next year

Hasn't been an assistant for all that long but reckon Matthew Scarlett will end up being a head coach. He's got the Cats defence working amazingly well, taken guys like Stewart and Blicavs and turned them into amazing defenders.

Outside chance but would be worth a look.

Sooo... you didn’t like the results of the last sub committee and wants the like C Judd’s head as a result, but, you want another sub committee to pick the new coach...?!

When you do arrow, can you check their track record before they came good. I’d be interested to know if it’s worse than 4 wins from 40 games.

No rebuild is the same, but the reality of what the Lions have been through doesn't suit the agendas around here

Bolton or not, or any other coach, progress +/- will be similar to clubs that have taken a rebuilding path

I have never read one single post from Arrow that suggests anything except realism.

No need for other people to go stick boots into others on here now, however. Everyone needs to reset their paradigm on what should be a community where diversity in opinions is grounds for good debate and willingness to accept difference of opinions without getting shirty. I assume everyone is a human behind the device they're inputting from. Let's try and remember that, shall we all?
