Ken for the season as caretaker.I have posted here before and will post again.
I would take Ken Hinkley in a heartbeat.
Not gonna get us a flag. But if you told me we would have him for 5 seasons from 2026-30 I would take it if we have 2 finishes of 5th place spots in 2026-8 which means 3 years we get Elim finals wins then 2 years of 9th to 12th and flick him after that then yeah.
Or if Ken Hinkley hangs around for 12 seasons and gives us similar finals success like he did at Port Adelaide from 2013-24. That is 3 or 4 preliminary finals and 5 or 6 finals wins in 12 seasons, then I am keen for that stability.
Ken Hinkley won't be slaughtered by the local media on a daily basis hereKen for the season as caretaker.
He'd probably enjoy the freedom of leaving Adelaide and a free hit at a flag.

Yeah, we've always had a good run with the media here...Ken Hinkley won't be slaughtered by the local media on a daily basis here
I’d much rather get a flag and then have 5 years of mediocrity if that’s the price to pay for actually winning the damn thing I’d take it. Simmo over Ken.I have posted here before and will post again.

You keep banging on about being satisfied with a few elim final wins and maybe making a few prelims and it's ****en stupid.I have posted here before and will post again.

We went the first time route with JLo, and it hasn’t worked out.Yes he would be.
Anyway, I think we have to go the first time coach route again. It's where almost every premiership comes from, rather than a recycled coach. If we can't poach a top tier coach at the top of their game again, ala RTB in 2011, then it's the best chance of striking gold. You run a higher risk of striking fools gold too aka JL, but its a better bet for winning the ultimate than going for a safe option with a low ceiling aka Hinkley.
Simpson's personality is too similar to JL. We need a contrast if we're going to change coaches. We went the first time route with JLo, and it hasn’t worked out.
There are two premiership winning coaches available right now - Longmire and Simpson, one of them lives in WA. You are not a serious club if you aren’t at the very least picking up the phone and ringing them.
I guess the difference between Simmo and JL is two things - Simmo’s messaging is clear, concise and he doesn’t mumble. Secondly he’s won a flag, he knows what it takes. Genuine question, if the choice was between Simpson and JLo right now to coach this list, who are you taking? Potentially if you go down the first timer route, get Simpson in as a senior assistant then?Simpson's personality is too similar to JL. We need a contrast if we're going to change coaches.
Longmire is the only currently available* coach I would look at.
*Assuming he'd be interested.

If you do down the first timer route, at the very least get a senior guy like Simpson next to him as a senior assistant coach. That may also appeal.First time coaches are high risk high reward but they do deliver the majority of flags. You shouldn't abandon that option because we struck out last time around.
That said you're right it would be unserious if the club didn't call up two recent premiership winning ex-coaches. Basically we need to cast a much wider net than we did last time and leave no stone unturned in order to find the right guy.
Wasn’t Graham the one ‘coaching ‘ in the IAS game?He was also outside the AFL system for a fair while until this season.
I know it’s three games but Graham has a 100% winning record as senior coach at West Coast and Freo.
He still has similar mannerism and coaching philosophy. He's a better communicator no doubt. I think it's important that the players can see the change. If you're trying to break bad habits etc the last thing you want is the new voice being reminiscant of the old one.I guess the difference between Simmo and JL is two things - Simmo’s messaging is clear, concise and he doesn’t mumble. I agree, Longmire would be my first choice, he is the one I’d throw big money at, but I’d happily have Adam Simpson coaching this list over Longmuir.
I am sure you do. But any coach out there can get this mob to a flag?I’d much rather get a flag and then have 5 years of mediocrity if that’s the price to pay for actually winning the damn thing I’d take it. Simmo over Ken.
Nathan Buckley
Yeah that’s the issue with Bucks. I don’t see any way he would come to Freo if we turfed JLo given he’s such a huge fan.. maybe a big pay packet? My gut feel is he’s being sounded out to be Tassie’s inaugural coach. This is the one for me, if he’d come after we flicked his mate JLo.
From what I’ve seen, he’s in a much better mental state than he was at Collingwood. But only if he still has the fire.

Because we are a long way of that elusive dockers premiership. You keep banging on about being satisfied with a few elim final wins and maybe making a few prelims and it's ****en stupid.
Whats the point of even supporting a team if you don't care if they ever win a premiership?
At this point in time, as a long suffering Dockers fan since 2001, I want Hinkley.Yes he would be.

Yeah a first time coach could work. Justin Longmuir is going ok.Yes he would be.

Hell Mark Neeld worked out well for the demons in 2012-3. LoL
Again... I won't mind Ken Hinkley handing us 2 preliminary finals in a row like Port in 2020-21.
Anyone wants to trash Ken Hinkley. Well he has had a decent finals run from 2013-2024.
6 finals wins in 12 seasons. Dockers have got 7 finals wins in 30 years.
Port has got 4 preliminary finals from 2014-24. Dockers .... 3 preliminary finals in 30 seasons.
Let that sink in.
Port has finished top 4 only 4 times from 5 years from 2020-24. Dockers have got top 4 only 4 times in 30 seasons.
Again... Let that sink in
