I do understand your point, but say we are pumped by 100 points, was it still an invaluable experience?

If we make it I'd like to think we'd give it a shake and not be crushed but if it happens then we will find out more about our players, our game plan and our coach.

Finals is the be all and end all. You have to be in it to win it and even the best can fall in a heap on any given day. We need to know if young lads like De Goey, Moore, Treloar, Crisp, Maynard, Oxley, Adams, Fasolo Smith, Crocker, Cox et al can perform on the biggest stages. We already know we have stars that can, now is the time to find out about the rest.

To me a finals appearance was always going to be an over-achievement and from this point I'd say it would be a near miracle. That said, stranger things have happened in footy and as an optimist, I'll happily sit here and believe it's possible. Bring it on!

Yep, agree. Had us finishing 5-10 this year depending upon how things played out. We now know how that went. We could still potentially come home like a freight train and sneak into finals but as long as we continue to see fight and development then it'll be a step toward long term sustainable high performance 2017 and beyond.

I don't understand people saying we have no chance to make the 8. This year is more open than ever. No team looks unbeatable. There are no games that I'll go in thinking we have no chance. If we win 9 out of the last 13, we'll be in. The odds are against us, but we still have a reasonable chance.

Realistically form says the Cats should have crushed us last week.
No reason we cannot beat any side if we come to play. Whether we can do it consistently is the question.
Not having had a settled side for much of the season is probably the biggest thing going against that consistency now, but a win against the Dogs with an unchanged side is the best way to improve in that area.
If we can pinch a win on Sunday and find a space for a rejuvenated Cloke which improves the side anything can happen.
Hopefully the boys believe this.

I think the fact we have more contrived draws with clusters of 6 teams now consigns the history to being just that. Freo sliding as badly as they have and Richmond being relatively poor to date does soften it a bit though but it's still an advantage for teams pushing toward finals to have those in the 8 playing each other twice. Be interesting to see how it all plays out.

If you're Optimistic like me (most Collingwood supporters are, because anything possible with us. Eg. Cloke might kick straight) We could go from 4-5 to 9-5. They are all winnable games. If we get lucky with injuries things will suddenly look bright!

Bulldogs
Gold Coast
Hawthorn

Had to go and jinx it didn't you!

For what it's worth we should be able to win the next 4 and if play well are at least a chance against Roos, Eagles, Tigers and should beat Suns in Melb. GWS & Crows away will be tough, as will Dogs at Eti & Hawks.
