Heard this morning he said he wasn't ready for the Carlton head gig, so not sure if we'll talk him into it.

Think Mitchell will sit as an assistant at Hawthorn for 5 or so years waiting as the replacement for Clarko when he eventually decides he has had enough of the head coaching gig and takes a step back.

I'm trying to understand why too. What has he done as a coach that's got so many on here gushing for him? I get he's a premiership player/captain, probably a great bloke, but what's to say he won't just be a Hird/Voss inexperienced experiment?

On top of this (which is enough for me to hand my card in if he's appointed), Lyon's got a Malthouse to Carlton vibe about it. Malthouse seemed to be more determined to stick it to Collingwood than to take on the challenged that Carlton presented.
