The only reason you bother looking at these Rookie B is ease of access. They can be signed. Blitz was an unusual case.most are a lot of work to become a fringe player at best. They only way they are not fringe is if their natural talent separates them , gives them selection priority over others. Lucey either had not enough talent or not enough skill

It's no different to drafting any project ruck.

There's a reason these players aren't in high demand during the national draft.

Or he became the player involved in the trade for Danger
No way in hell would of we traded him. We're not crazy! & also he has no desire to go back to Adelaide whatsoever (fair enough)
We just wouldn't have got Scooter and Henderson that year. About a million $ there.

He said he considered going home to adelaide last year. But as always it could have been a ploy to get the 7 yr deal.

Rookie B's dont have to be drafted. They are selected and directly added.

I a lot of this discussion depends on your personal biases and prefered methods of player addition. Id always preer to have us with a couple of young potential rucks. Ideally at least one of a quality that he was worth drafting in the national, and another who in the clubs eyes he is worth a chance , give him all the advanatges of being on a list and see if that can advance them and develop them. If draft or trade in mature types, 25 and older, then i'd expect the players to be far close to ready than Abbott. Fort at least played , Im not convince he was drafted ready to play.

In respect of this thread. I feel the rookie list has had its day. Putting plays like Henderson on it , is not what Id describe as anything other as a convienent list manipulation. All clubs do it , but Id hardly call them Rookies. Maybe the name is wrong now , it changed when they allowed older player like Pods.

No need to get rid of it. Just rename it.
