After watching us blow Sydney away after half time today, it dawned on me just how much we've blown sides away in the 2nd halves of games this season, especially in the games we've won. So far this year, this is how we've scored in the 2nd half of matches:

Round 1 vs Essendon - 11.4.70 to 6.7.43
Round 2 vs Hawthorn - 9.7.61 to 4.4.28
Round 3 vs Fremantle - 9.6.60 to 9.9.63
Round 4 vs Port Adelaide - 15.14.104 to 3.1.19
Round 5 vs Carlton - 4.7.31 to 5.6.36
Round 6 vs Richmond - 11.10.76 to 5.6.36
Round 7 vs Sydney - 12.8.80 to 4.3.27

In percentage terms, we've kicked 482 points, and conceded 252 for a percentage of 191.3%. Whereas in previous years we've buried teams early and coasted in the second half, it seems this year we're letting teams stick with us for a half, before we kick into overdrive in the 2nd half.

I wonder if the decision to let our older players commence their pre-season a lot later than usual is allowing us to run out games a lot better than we have in the past.

Interesting observations.

The other thing to note is our accuracy seems to be improving. A 'normal' Geelong scoreline of years past has more behinds than goals. I like this new trend!

It is with these views we maybe can see that our management of players is a success. I must admit I am liking how we steamroll teams. Though, I think it is still too early to judge and I believe the proof of further success in finals will let us know.

I also believe that making this comparison is difficult, with guys like Pods standing out in the second half too. Maybe giving our guys who struggled a bit last year extra breathing space and rest.

Either way, I like how we are respecting those older guys and their contribution.

we haven't been smashing teams like this since 2007 and early 2008, its making me all warm and fuzzy inside because its clear the group still have the hunger:thumbsu:

yep l noticed that too with the accuracy aswell l said to the missus on sunday god our kicking for goal is bloody good.she said shhhhh because yeah it's normally the other way around as soon as l said that someone missed a goal lets hope the better kicking keeps happening.

Geelong are a great 2nd half team, but we are also good starters, it's our 2nd quarters that havn't been too good.
