Okay, assuming that the Crows DO beat the Pies, that'll mean that we missed out on the Finals by one game. To you, which of the games that we lost most feels like the one that got away? That one measely game that we shoulda, coulda, woulda won, to make it in. I've listed all our losses below, just to remind you.

Rnd 2: Lions at the Gabba, 102 to 50.
Rnd 4: Bombers at the TD, 99 to 68.
Rnd 5: The Power at the Footy Park, 96 to 43.
Rnd 8: Hawks at the MCG, 72 to 44.
Rnd 9: Freo at Subi, 101 to 55.
Rnd 10: Cats at TD, 125 to 65.
Rnd 11: Kangas at TD, 80 to 58.
Rnd 14: Pies at the MCG, 89 to 80.
Rnd 19: Swans at TStad, 82 to 65
Rnd 21: Weagles at TD, 106 to 98.
(I have not included the Rnd 18 Doggies draw, because those extra two points wouldn't have made a difference anyway...)

For mine, games away like the Gabba, Subi, Footy Park and Telstra Stadium aren't the most winnable - we'll have to consistently threaten when interstate next year, but not this year. I think we can also write off any games before the break, because of injuries and the team getting used to Lyon's game plan. That leaves me with the Pies or the Weagles. I definitely think we should have won both these, but particularly the Pies game - they were out of form, and we were really rolling on a streak.

What do you reckon?

Who is cocky? Your mob have been pretty good the last month. But, our best is still better than your best, and by rights we should win. But we've said that about a few games so far this year to no avail ... so no-one I know is taking this game for granted.

I was at the Brisbane game and we were terrible after half-time, and not much better before it. For some above-the-neck reason we cannot beat Essendon, although next year with Sheedy gone that may change.

Our match against the Power was our most-uncompetitive for the year.

Rounds 8-10 injuries played their part, as well as a tough schedule (Hawthorn & Geelong are finalists, Fremantle in Perth always tough) but we should have beaten the Kangaroos, who were not that good on the day.

After that obviously the Collingwood game got away, and we should have been further in front against West Coast, but in the end both Sydney & West Coast are really good sides.

So in short, the losses to Essendon, Kangaroos & Collingwood cost us, as well as the draw to the Doggies. Turn those 2 premiership points into 16 and we are 14-7 instead of 10-10-1, hopefully about to finish top four.

It's the West Coast game. The Collingwood game was at a time when we were just regaining our key playmakers, they didn't have the run in the legs then and couldn't be expected to run out a full game like that. But against West Coast they should have been able to finish off the game. We were in control for most of the game until they ran over the top, so for me that was the one.

I would prefer collinwood win so STkilda are still intersted in the contest on saturday.

then i want my tigers to go for stKilda's throat.

basically i want a serously hard live game.

i want to get away from the whole pathetic 'i prefer not to win for the good of my club' scene where most of carlton and a few tiger and demons fans are at.

The Collingwood game was bad, but I don't think we were as in control as we were during the West Coast match - the Pies missed plenty of shots that game (like they always do I suppose). The West Coast game was just like a culmination of our previous 5 weeks of fadeouts, having teams on toast and either choking or winning by a couple of goals.

I watched the first 10 minutes of the Pies game on TV and can't watch any more. Bloody hacks. I hope we get belted by the Tigers tomorrow.

Where to for next year?

Collingwood game the one for mine. That day was the day our season went down the gurgler. Anyone who thinks we were still in the race after that was kidding themselves.
And there's nothing worse than your team losing against Collingwood and having to cop an MCG-full of their feral supporters at their worst (remember the umpiring in favour of the Saints that day????)
I reckon injured players should have to sit in the outer and see what the fans go through, might spur them on. The players all think it's their career, that they're playing for themselves and their teammates to win a flag....what alot of them don't get is that supporters ride the waves right there with them. We bleed when the team loses. We're the reason they earn the ridiculous dollars that they do.
