Should this club be continuously rewarded for serving up shit should they?

Is that how you regard 'support'? I have the opposite view. I go to games to 'support' the club through good times and bad. Its not about picking games that i think we'll win, and avoiding inevitable losses. You have no problem with 'bandwagon' supporters? I certainly do.

That's how Ed rolls.

Bandwagon is supporters who have NEVER really been supporters suddenly jumping on a winning team.

Being a long time supporter who is fed up with bullshit isn't the same thing.

Ten years from now ...

... the supporters who were at the game today ...

... will be able to look back and remember "I was there when Darcy Moore had his breakout game and kicked 5 goals" ...

... and they probably wouldn't even remember who won it.

There were over 40000K there today.
I thought it was a reasonable crowd for Etihad, but it is soooooo freezing in that place!
In that case 39,948K would have been locked out.

I was concentrating on the real football this weekend. The international cup was enthrawling, high pressure, highly skilled football. Evidently, they are going to play again for the next 3 years and more teams are going to come. Arsenal is going to play the East Melbourne Cup against Liverpool next year. And Man Utd will be playing the Cup holders Cup next year against some other european team which will depend on how much the Vic govt can pay them. There will be other games too and I think I'll lose interest in AFL. They are going to pay the two best performing soccer teams to play on the MCG in September to play for the International Melbourne Grand Winners More Exciting than AFL Cup.....I cant wait...

Sarcasm measured at an all time high level 7 on that one!

more like disgust.... btw I love the drumming before the Richmond match. I thought it made the game into a wonderful spectacle. The end of the game wasnt bad either but the drumming at the start got me really excited...

Why can't the dogs get a home game against us at the G, pull 55k or so in and the utter waste of a game dees v saints could have been moved to etihad?
I have been saying a lot our crowd figures have gone downhill since 2010, and aside from the queens b'day game, anzac day and probably the GWS game the year we have had well below average crowds relative to the opposition. I couldn't care if we had 80k members or 20k, i think crowd numbers AND BLOODY ATMOSPHERE holds way more substance than stupid memberships.

How much of the decline of Pies support at the ground comes down to Foxtel showing all our games and Sunday fixtures at "Arctic Park" (etihad)....play us 2pm on saturdays at the G against other Vic teams and see how we go.....

I was there today and I go every week.
I pay a fair amount for 5 full AFL Memberships for whole family so it's stupid not to go.
I don't know what people expect?
Football is entertainment. Your life does not depend on it.
You can't win every week. No, I'm not happy we lost but I'm not going to bitch about it.
I don't mind Etihad for neutral games, but hate it when we play there because we always lose.
I don't know why people say it was cold.
I think it would have been colder at the MCG today and yesterday.
I even ran into TradeDraft today after the game.
Never seen him in real life before but recognized him immediately. :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Probably cant afford to buy a ticket
At least we had 15-20k. Carlton games are empty, literally empty.

The main thing I've noticed is not the attendance, its the general atmosphere. It just hasn't been the same since 2010-11 and I'm not sure why. The exception was the North Melbourne game in that second half.

I was there but I don't blame anyone who sat it out. It was freezing in there today - How does so much weather get into a closed stadium? I took a toilet break just so I could use the hand dryer!

Too many of our supporters drowned watching the reserves go round at Viccy Park.

I was one of them. There wasn't a big contingent there today, actually. But if any of those who did turn up intended to head off to the AFL at half time, then maybe they didn't make it because they suddenly realised that their toes had snapped off and that their legs were frozen solid or that their bums were locked in an icy embrace with the seat. It was footy at its frosty finest there...

The supporter split was about 50-50. We had more supporters if anything...

No disrespect, but you guys have over double our membership numbers. You have 75,000 members while we have 35,000 members, so a 50/50 turnout is quite a drop from your point of view.

I remember going to a dogs home game against the pies a few years ago, I swear that you guys outnumbered us by at least 5 to 1.

OK, please remember this was also your home game, so you would have a huge head start on reserved seats supporters going to the game. So basically 3/5 of level 1 and 1/2 of level 2 was reserved only for bulldogs supporters. Level 3 was full of Collingwood supporters. Also, it seems tough getting supporters to an away game when we're playing like shit and playing at a crap ground.

Why would the AFL Allow another sport to be playing at the MCG during the Finals:eek:

You guys are up and about and our supporters know enough to come in from the cold

And don't do that passive aggressive "no disrespect" shit when there is no other reason to say it except sticking it to us

So just stick it to us, we can take it.. we've got 15 cups and a million supporters ;)

I'll be honest, woke up late so didn't turn up :P... Only second Melbourne game I haven't attended this year after ANZAC day though. We have had a couple of disappointing crowds this year though so hopefully people can see the promising signs and start rocking up come next year.
