No doubt covered somewhere on here, but can someone clarify our Telstra Dome deal?

Read the recent article quoting Swanny on how little we made v Brisbane with 40K in attendance. Depresing stuff.

Could we potentially fare better at the 'G? It would certainly help the win loss ratio.

I'm fairly sure that it runs out at the end of this season, I could be totally wrong though

Not quite sure when it expires, but i can tell you that when it does it will no longer be our home ground. The MCG will be our only home ground tenant....

Thank God...

Well, I did say 'I could be totally wrong though"

If it wound up this year I think there'd be a lot more being said about further negotiations re: The G. :)

 The original deal (forced through by Spewmitriou) was 5 years from the end of 2004. Means we are out of it at the end of next year - thank god.

Originally we were offered a 5 year 11 home game deal at the MCG at a rate much better than at Telstra. However that f*cking jerk Collins and Spewmitriou forced the Club to go to Telstra.

Spewmitriou told the Club that they could accept the MCG deal, but that the league would not guarantee to schedule any games there and, if we were willing to go to the Dome the AFL would toss in around $3m to cover costs.

Collins did not try to fight it because his only aim in becoming Carlton President was to get us to the Dome and shore up his position as CEO of Telstra. He is an absolute Pr*ck!

As soon as this deal is finished, The Blues will be at the MCG before you blink. Thank goodness.:thumbsu:

This is not true,TD offered us such a great deal we would have been stupid to knok it back. The Dons were going to take TD to court because no team can have a deal better the thiers.

Pretty sure the Dome deal was five years and next year will be the last year.

I am pretty certain the club was paid a substantial incentive by the AFL to move to the Doom. The club were apparently told they wouldn't receive the incentive if they moved to the G and the AFL wouldn't guarantee that they would schedule games at the G. (This was back in the days with the G at loggerheads with Vlad over the Prelim final deal)

Note sure of the financial figures but the games were split as follows.

2005 5TD/5MCG 1PP farewell match
2006 - 2009 6TD/MCG

From what Swan has already said I am pretty certain we will make a strong push for the MCG. I doubt we will get 11 home games at the MCG but I would be happy with 9MCG/2TD plus payments such as what Richmond get for playing at the Dome. I would accept an 8/3 deal with payments too. Anything less than that will not be satisfactory from my point of view.

You are wrong. The Telstra deal was a sh*t deal from the start. The first thing it did was send the Social Club broke and also meant a lot of fans would not go there. I also believe that it hindered our development.

The MCG was, is and will always be a better home for us. They were also desperate to get us and would could have negotiated a very good long term deal. Instead we got shafted by Collins and Spewmitriou.

You can back it in now that we are on the rise that it will be sooner, rather than later when we tell Collins and the Dome to flower off and our home will be the MCG. Old prune face would not be writing an article in the AGE unless she had some nice snippets of info coming her way.

Why should we give the Filth all the running at the "G' now that the Giant is stirring and Flag No. 17 is starting to loom on the horizon. Mark my words, the move to the MCG is high on the agenda of the club and, without doubt is being supported by King Richard.

Onward and upward for the mighty Bluebaggers.:confused:

My thoughts.

A. I believe we got a significant up front cash payment to go to the dome and as such this was critical when we were financially stricken

B. If we could learn to play at the dome (which we need to anyway) I am sure we would all not mind playing there. I enjoy playing mid winter games there against lower crowd drawing clubs. It is nice inside and on a Saturday nite it ensures a good crowd. If some of these games were played at the G on a Sat nite mid winter we would get half as many people.

I was under the impression the social club was stuffed anyway and nobody turned up and certainly nobody spent any cash. Just what we were told here out west anyway!

The Deal at the Dome ends at the end of 2009 as someone said. It was a 5 year deal. We got money up front 2-3 mil from memory, the MCG did offer us a better deal but we were pressured into the Dome.I cant wait to get outta there and go to the G permanantly.

.

YOUR A PIECE OF SHIT COLLO !!! 20k from a game pulling near 40,000 fans.

I hate to burst eveyone's bubble, but it was 10 year deal and we've still got about 6 to go, however with new teams entering the comp and more games to go around at each of the stadiums, I would expect renegotiating the deal before it expires is a possiblity.

Those who are saying the AFL would not support a deal where all of our home games were played at the G are correct, as I understand it. They won't have the same leverage over us next time though.
