Ports nuts have dropped overnight. Congrats to them.
It’ll sill get done but they need a face saver somewhere.

This seems like a really dumb impasse and Gold Coast need to stop being dickheads across their two deals

Richmond barely deserve pick 6 for Rioli let alone more

Give Port 23 and let them keep their Future first and offer their Future second instead

This really shouldn’t be that difficult unless Gold Coast actively choose to make it so

I'm a bit out of the loop with a busy weekend but Owies is essentially Carlton's version of Ginnivan, albeit now cemented into their 22. Up there in their goal scorer tally, etc

And it looks like they might finish the trade period having traded a first, future first and Owies for pick 3?

Watch the Carlton Media Mafia give them an A+ for that haul 🤦

Blues get pick 3 AND get to rid themselves of Owies. Lucky campaigners.
Honestly I think they’re making a big mistake. They had two strong picks in a reportedly extremely even draft and now they’re throwing all their eggs in the top 3 pick basket.
When has that ever worked for them? Weitering is the only genuinely good player I can remember them taking that early, all the rest have been squibs like Murphy and Gibbs at best.

No Houston = Noble stays without doubt.
Looking at the Power board and Suns board, they are both united in their belief that we are not giving up enough in the 3-way deal.
Whether all of us on here think we are, they do not.
A first, a second , Noble and Richards for a 27 yo back flanker. Not giving enough ??? lol

Have Port not communicated their requirements to us?

How did we construct an entire deal only to have them decline?

Wasted time.

Still think we're chasing the wrong guy. Give the Eagles 2 firsts for Barrass.
It’s not as bad as the media make it sound. Honestly think Port contacted all parties last night and went “sorry all we won’t be proceeding with this current deal, we feel there needs to be a few adjustments but we’ll pick up discussions again tomorrow.” I’m sure they will get somewhere today.

Could be wrong but do we think Port got a whiff of the Eagles trading away 3 to Carlton and using 14 for Baker? That means Richmond might be okay with GC handing 23 over to Port, now that they have 14 to use.

If North were truly in the race for Houston it would make more sense for them wouldn't it to deal 25 and a F1 directly to Port?

Sure Port miss on the pick 13 this year but they'll probably walk away with a top 3 pick next season. It's well worth the wait!

Of course they could turn that NM F1 into valuable picks for this year.

If NM aren't prepared to offer anything more than a F1 for Houston (unlikely) knowing it's potential value then what PA could gain from that would be on par if they can get 13 and 23 + out of the current proposal.

Personally I think NM are only interested in 13 if they know it lands them Houston and would be better targeting Fremantle's even better pick 11 if they really wanted back in using their valuable F1.
No one wants to play for North

Disappointing to think that our pursuit of Houston is being derailed by a trade that has nothing to do with us. The ridiculous overs that GC are apparently paying for Rioli has set a stupid benchmark for the Houston deal. What Port are paying for Lukosius (picks and dollars) has only compounded it.

We’re offering fair value in a period of hyper inflation.

(And why aren’t the footy talking heads scrutinising the crazy Rioli and Lukosius deals in the same way that they’re frothing over the Houston deal?)

I suspect Walsh has got into the coaches ear and demanded they chase Finn O’Sullivan. I think he’s related to Walsh somehow.
Hopefully as good a ball user.

If Port are worried about being “strong armed” by Houston’s “camp” then at least he has a camp with strong arms. He won’t agree to going to North and he will now have a hard time going back to Port.

No, it was a terrible deal for port and I genuinely feel it’s a show of incompetence for their GM of footy and he got bailed out.

Given their recruitment strategy the past few years which has led them to their hard capped ceiling of a preliminary final, we shouldn’t be surprised

Garry Lyon is unbearable on SEN this morning, keeps going on about either Port keeping him or sending him to North. He really is a dinosaur when it comes to trading

I don't think it was a terrible deal for Port. But as I said yesterday they definitely got the least good part of the deal

It's only a couple of tweaks away from being as good as it can be under the circumstances.

Give them 23 instead of 29 and allow them to keep their Future First and offer their Future Second instead and it's about as good as it can get for all 3

100%.

If it was us if much rather take say Hotton and Reid than take O'Sullivan alone.
