To put an end to this thred, the following is our best 22. No if's or but's.

B: Carrazzo Jamison Bower

HB: Scotland Thornton Stevens

C: Simpson Gibbs Grigg

HF: Walker Waite Houlihan

F: Betts Fevola Cloke

R: Kreuzer Judd Murphy

INT: Wiggins Russell Warnock Hadley

EMG: Joseph Armfield Jacobs

By the end of 2010 (when we are playing in the grandfinal) you would hope Yarran and Robbo would be close to certainies.

I agree with that side atm but end of 2010

I would have Cloke and Russell out with Army and Robbo in.

There have been a lot of very ordinary players who have been in Premiership teams. I think these 6 are better than some of those. Look at our 1995 side - Hoggy was a trier but no superstar. Brad Pearce had a good year but did nothing after that.

Pearce was my favorite player!

Was shattered when merrington took over the 19

We could certainly use Pierce in the team now, at least he could kick it between the 2 big ones.

Hogg was a gun. Ran his socks off every game, tackled, harassed, didnt know what to do with it when he got it, but always gave 110%.

These are the players Wallsy was talking about that need to lift when the game is on.

Scotland - goes missing
Houlihan - goes missing
Cloke - crap/spud
Wiggins - good
Stevens - class
Simpson -good
Russell - ok

The younger blokes will come on. But those players that have been in the system for a while need to be showing the way when the game is in the balance.

For mine, Scotland, Houlihan,Cloke, should be traded or delisted come years end. They can't be relyed upon and are as soft as butter.

In an ideal world without injuries..
Replace

Armfield with Walker
Bentley with Hadley
Cloke with Warnock

Joseph = Browne (hard to split these two - Joseph deserves a place ahead of one or two other players on this list as does Browne)

O'Hailpin with Hampson (hard to split at the moment - O'hAilpin has aggression that we lack at the moment, but Hampson is a lot younger and hopefully lives up to his potential given some more time and games under his belt)

Russell with Yarran
Thornton with Austin (Austin playing very well in the 2's and is a better KPP prospect than Thornton - Thornton makes a great sweeper though)
Wiggins with Robbo

One thing I do know is that we have a lot more depth now!

must have missed the Hawthorn game??

....must have missed the first 6 rounds?;)

Round 1 - 16 Disposals, 10 Marks, 3 Hit Outs.
Round 2 - 8 Disposals, 5 Marks, 2 Hit Outs, 2 Goals.
Round 3 - 11 Dispoals, 8 Marks, 4 Hit Outs.
Round 4 - 15 Disposals, 7 Marks, 6 Hit Outs, 1 Goal.
Round 5 - 16 Dispsals, 10 Marks, 6 Hit Outs, 2 Goals.
Round 6 - 7 Disposals, 2 Marks, 10 Hit Outs.

Season averages - 12 Disposals, 7 Marks, 5 Hit Outs.

Is that not a serviceable output?

It appears that anyone who dares 'criticse' any Carlton player, BE It Wallsy or any other poster on this board, is abused and called every name under the sun, because they are honest enough to the cracks through the side ...

Just about everyone 'criticises' our players every week - we do this through our INS and OUTS selections.

There is a vast difference between criticising a player based on form, and criticising a player simply because their surname happens to be Russell or Thornton.

In a recent Chris Johnson thread, posters were saying things like 'I hope this hack never plays for us again' and along those lines.

These sorts of comments are nothing more than idiotic. If he plays again, it'll mean because his form warrents it. Why wouldnt we want guys who are in form playing? Who cares about what any player has done in the past if they are performing in the present.

1. Cloke - Too slow, imobile, soft, poorly skilled (hands/disposal), makes poor position.

2. Russell - no footy brain, motivational levels all over the place, doesn't know where/when to run, dodgy kicking.

3. Wiggins - one dimensional, shocking kicking, not all that quick, has a poor turning circle, like Hadley can't afford to lose his "edge".

4. Houlihan - not all that quick, slow with his hands. Needs to step up to Stewart Dews level.

5. Johnson - poor spoiler, physicality is poor, kicking is not that good, leap is not that good.

6. Hadley - needs to be switched on and go harder than most are asked all the time, when he lost his edge he lost his spot.

pretty tough to make a list like this, there are some good players on this list.
