Just reading the Inside Footy, had for 2 weeks but getting around to reading it all now, and saw this article. It's Rhys-Jones interviewing Rod Ashman.

I think that it's quite forthright and enlightening.

Couple of passages struck me, one was about Carlton supporters becoming impatient for success because they are not used to periods of time like the last 2-3 years (I think is how he put it and I know some will argue it's longer).

The other part I chuckled at was a dietician at the club in the early 80's only hanging around for a week because she saw what the players ate and thought she couldn't do anything about it! How footy has changed!

I know when I watched the winners over here in Perth in those days Bruce Doull and Tommy Alvin were a couple of the ones I would enjoy seeing.

Besides Perth being Dullsville, your thread has merit, David in my mind was a legend, and what he speaks of is true enough, us Blues supporters are an impatient lot

Yeah, I bought Inside Football a little while ago now, and have yet to get around to reading it. I really only bought it for the Ashman article. Will have to make sure I read it in the next couple of days. Sounds like an interesting article.

That is hilarious.....was very much beers and meat pies after the games in those days! Reminds me of a well known story involving the dieticians trying to get Sticks Kernanhan to eat some fruit after the games and he wanted nothing to do with it!
