Chewy on your boot, yer mug,
Hey Ump, Use the other eye,
Move your feet, you useless lug,
It's enough to make you cry.
Phrases beloved of footy fans,
I learned at my mother's knee,
North Melbourne was the team for us,
Royal Blue and White for me.
This was in the fifties though,
And we rarely won a game,
But we wouldn't miss the footy,
Come sunshine, wind or rain.
We hated all those other teams
Witha passion so sublime,
They didn't play fair, they thumped our guys,
And thrashed us time after time.
There were a couple of Jocks back in those days,
A Spencer - McCorkell too,
We had a Foote and a Dyer,a Dwyer, A Dynon,
And that's to name just a very few.
Of course we got better as years rolled by,
Went from Shinboners to Kangaroos,
A Flag or three brought supporters in,
Now we win a lot more that we lose.
The fashions have changed (the language too)
But most things remain the same,
The love of our Game, the love of our team,
The Almighty Kangaroos.....
