Have a story that dates back 20 years and relates to it that isn't that amusing actually. Applied for many many jobs when I graduated from uni and couldn't get an Interview and couldn't work out why. Then one day it occurred to me to include Mr in my applications, no word of a lie 8 interviews were forthcoming in the week that followed.

I'm glad that referring to oneself as Mr Pansyasscrap worked for you. Trust you're now in your dream job.:)

Some of the 'westernised' names the white folk used to give indigenous Australians are old fashioned names which are still used by indigenous Australians today. Names like Neville, Cyril, Cedric, etc. You don't see many white folk with those names these days. I like them.
Cedric is cool, like that one!

Will you say the same thing if they start using the names Garth, Bevan and Lance though?

Dammo on footy show said that Brisbane and Carlton have had talk about Rocky. Said best Brisbane can get is end of first round pick 19. Can't get pick 2...
Yeah...It came across like Carlton were telling us we would only be getting pick 19..

Never watched the Footy Show, so can't really comment on the hosts delivery, but I'd say there might have been a bit lost in the translation of the information.

Carlton have an interest in Rocky and asked Brisbane are they likely to match an offer to Rocky of xxxx amount. Basically they want to know if they'd just be wasting their time putting the offers forward. Both clubs would have a fair idea what a band 1 compensation pick would require, and Carlton's offer isn't that high.

Not sure if Dammo is aware that GWS have lost their first round pick, but band 2 compo would technically be pick 18.

What is band 3 compo, after a teams second round pick?

The bands are:
• 1st round (pick 2)
• end of 1st round (pick 18)
• 2nd round (pick 19)
• end of 2nd round (pick 36)
• 3rd round (pick 37)

So with band 2 we'd wind up with pick 18 (compensation) and pick 19 (our second)
With band 3 we'd wind up with pick 18 (our second) and pick 19 (compensation)

Of course, I don't believe we'd get either as we'd be matching anything short of a band one offer.

Cheers for that. It's the Band 3 compensation I was queering? Does it fall behind a teams second round pick?

I only ask, because other teams could earn band 2 compo if they lose a player who is offered a large enough contract, therefor pushing our second round pick back.

I wonder what his motivations are... Going to Melbourne and getting involved in the media maybe comes into it, a pay rise, fair enough. Because let's be honest he can't be chasing success if he goes to Carlton.

Which brings us full circle as to why we should have a retention allowance-no chance media involvement in dear old Brisbane town.

I was very suspicious that once Treloar and Howe joined Collingwood that suddenly they were regulars on FoxFooty and SEN and let's be honest, both are terrible in the media. It's a shame that certain influences enable players to be prominent in the media at the expense of being any decent which further enhances how laughable the industry is that the powers at networks support favours over quality personnel.

Treloar spends 10 minutes on SEN a week, whilst I haven't seen Howe on FoxFooty (apart from his weekly screamers) o_O

Hardly going to fill their pockets

The best one was Travis Cloke holding out on Collingwood before eventually signing a 5 year deal. Nekminit "in completely unrelated news, Travis Cloke has signed a five year contract to appear on The Footy Show..."

And the bloke can barely speak. Obviously they think any trained circus animal can do the job they put their whole life into. Surely you would feel your profession is cheapened if Travis Cloke can do it with minimal training.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. We are led to believe it would have to be something around $800k+ to attract band 1 and that our current offer is well below that both in money and years. There is every possibility we won't match offers between where we are at and band 1.
