We have no leverage at all.

Rockliff stays, good. Still my preferred option. He wants to go, not much we can do. We get end of round 1, that's pretty much it. Then what we do with the pick is up to us. What are the options?
We can match any bid if we want if the money isn't that different and our compo will be average.

FORMER Brisbane captain Tom Rockliff has been offered a contract by Carlton, according to Fox Sports News’ Jake Niall.

Carlton and Port Adelaide are among the clubs linked to the free agent — and Niall confirmed the Blues were “definitely interested” in securing Rockliff’s services.

“I believe they’ve actually made him an offer of sorts,” Niall said on Fox Sports News’ AFL Tonight.

Not sure what "of sorts" means.
Another AFL journalist with and 'exclusive' that could have been written by a casual BF member over their morning coffee.

We can up our cash offer and help his player management team to use that as a reason for the Blues to up their offer. Just keep repeating back and forth until we get band 1 compo :D.

One things for sure we definitely need to change up our midfield mix, it's not working. If we can get Miles and Cameron and run Cameron through the midfield in stints we would be a much better team.
If you think Miles will change our midfield mix, you've got another thing coming. Very much a blunt instrument, which is why Richmond have recruited two similar (but better) players recently and even prefer a guy who's played 3 afl games over him. Could be a stop-gap option, but if you think we need to change things up due to the deficiencies of Rockliff + Beams, Miles has all the same deficiencies and more.

Being contracted Cameron aint going to come cheap...I'm interested to see those returning from injury(Bundy Mitch & Bell) and our younger brigade of midfielders will go competing for positions.

You're essentially saying Rockliff isn't worth dropping one spot back in the draft. If they don't think that is worth it they would never offer enough for band 1 to begin with.
Theyd on't want to offer him that regardless. To pay that much, on top of moving down a spot will need to be factored into their thinking when getting him. I don't think they will get him because it means they will lose out on a Rayner type.
Pick1 + 2: Dow, rayner
Pick 3: LDU
Pick 4: cerra/Stephensen

Can't see Carlton giving us Band 1 compo, would move their pick back
The only reason why they wouldn't is if they dont think he is worth it.
In all likelyhood they r after Rayner, and I think that even if we have 2 picks before them I dont think we will.
Dow and Cerra, Dow and Stephenson or Dow and LDU for us.
We give them a guarantee we wont take him with the deal, and they get to work on the GCS who may not take him either if the rumours are true.
But stranger things!

One of your posters a few pages back suggested that what you guys have offered Rockliff is unders in terms of money and years, If Carlton don't have to offer up a deal to trigger band 1 compo, it doesn't mean what you are suggesting at all I would think.

I don't think our offer is bad mate. In my opinion we will match if the FA value is less than band 1. If a team wants him they'll have to pay to get him or else we'll match.
