Les retired in 2010 - years ago so would have zero idea of what current AFL requirements are.

Interesting on 5AA this morning, most of the callers that were complaining were 80+ years old- says it all. Listened to it to get a bit of a laugh.
Why wouldn't he know, he's at the oval every other day and his son in law is the 2IC groundsman

Yes, which was before three additional AFL sides - Port, GWS and GCS - were bought into the league.

What happened in 1995/1996 is irrelevant in 2025.

This is all on SACA and Cricket Australia and no-one else as they know the agreement with Football.
I was just responding to the point that the Big Bash caused this issue.

SACA can ask, AFL can say no. No problems IMO.

Adding Port did nothing. They replaced Fitzroy

Im guessing you mean Fremantle? Well, the afl went from 22 games over 24 rounds to 22 games in 22 rounds. So the season actually became shorter.
And with Gold Coast, even though it added 2 weeks, as we did in 1991. The AFL pushed back the season into October to accommodate that.
Then when GWS came in, normality resumed.

The causes are
1) Bringing in the pre-finals bye (2016)
2) Bringing in Gather Rd (2023)
3) Bringing in Opening Rd (2024)

Good point.

Final session should be packed after our game.

Send down the food trucks.

The reality is, it will be you and less than 100 others.
We'll see.

Nowhere to put too many food trucks sadly, would be better food than I'd get at the ground !!!

Silvers had nothing to do with the camp. Why are you even here?
Must just be a real football lover. Has time to post troll on the Port board too:

This season will seal the decisions of Bergman and Butters to leave. They only need to look at role models Boak and Wines to reinforce the decision.

The two AFL matches would get upwards of 70k fans combined

The Shield final would be lucky to get 15k across all days combined

Don't see why the Shield final should have priority over the AFL
Isn't AO owned by SACA?

Isn't AO owned by SACA?
No - Yes - Maybe SMA Stadium Management Authority

AOSMA is a joint venture company of the two entities that grow and develop cricket and football in South Australia – the South Australian Cricket Association and the South Australian National Football League.

Adelaide Oval itself is owned by the people of South Australia. We operate the venue on an 80-year lease from the Government of South Australia and are responsible for running, maintaining and developing Adelaide Oval along with our obligations to pay annual rent and sinking fund contributions.

You're a little sad arent you
All in fun.

But......

The uproar and disdain against the AFL for not letting SACA play there should at least generate some decent support today.

It won't.

The reality is, less than 1000 people care enough to actually attend.

Maybe, an influx over the weekend.

What annoys me about the SACA is that they got their debt cleared and gain revenue from the AFL games. The AFL is their biggest revenue earner.
Yet don't use that money they receive to develop a decent second ground for events like this. So expect the AFL to allow AO to be used.

Make the AFL and our club look bad, in asking for something that never happens in mainland Australia. Shield Final played at a Test venue.

The ground itself is good enough for the day to say Shield games etc, but they were too dumb to make sure that the dates of their agreements lined up.

The ACC were never ever going to let the SACA do more than have temp stands around KRO, it goes against their "no development for professional sports" line they peddle. In fact im surprised theyve let them do that this week.

Mali could push it through.

Like he did Liv golf in the golf course.

Yep agree on the timing...
If Cricket Australia truly cared about the Shield Final, they would schedule the Shield competition to finish before the AFL take control of all the Test grounds.

Shield final has always been held around this time of year, its the AFL who have encroached TBH.

And im not sure Mali would push it through, the North Adelaide GC will still be a public course. A properly done 2nd home to the SACA would not be.
