I would have to say the north wang supporters are worst than the all blacks supporters after saturdays game.
They were a little rowdy on the weekend, but to be fair, there were some rather shocking decisions, such as the ball that hit the post but was called a goal. In my opinion, North Wang supporters at their worst are about 100 times better than the Benalla crowd at their worst.

I don't think we should go on about whose supporters are worse than others! Every club has some bad supporters, and think all will agree with that...there isn't much you can do to stop it although it seems as though most clubs have tried to put a stop to the "minority idiots" that most seem to have as supports!
It's going to be an interesting last 2 rounds isn't it...3 teams, 2 spots! The Hoppers really need to win this week Virge otherwise might be in a bit of trouble! I reckon Moyhu & Bright will get the 2 spots, Greta has to play Glenrowan & Milawa. If they win one of those they totally deserve there spot in finals although is a tough ask!

That they are all bad, or can't see very well Slim??? I've thought that for a while now. Umpires that wear pink sweat bands aren't much better...:D
None of the above rumble. Good sun sense I call it....... even though the sun hasn't been out for a while on Saturdays...

While we're umpire bashing, the umpires in the reserves have been absolute rubbish this season. It will only be a matter of time before the most basic error costs a team a final or an important match.
I understand that lack of numbers is an issue, but surely both sides would benefit by providing 1 club umpire each on match day. The current situation where old blokes "run" around and pay decisions in the forward/back pockets when they are still in the centre square is an absolute joke:mad:
The benefits of two club umpires:
:thumbsu:Twice the ground being covered.
:thumbsu:The players know how/what their own club umpire will pay free kicks for.
:thumbsu:The umpires would've actually played a game and let the game flow.
Our umpire on the weekend paid a mark to one of my teammates. As he "marked" the ball, the opponent hit the ball out of his hands and disputed the decision. The umpires response was: "I would've paid the mark if you didn't knock it out of his hands". WTF does that mean:confused:
I asked my opponent if he knew what that meant and we just laughed.
For the whole game no one had any idea what he was paying. I don't think the umpire did to be honest.
And how many times in reserves football (and seniors for that matter) do umpires reward a tackle when the player never had time to get rid of it? Where in the rules does it say: because it's a great tackle, a free kick has to be paid? They get totally caught up in the theatrics. All that boils down to is basic knowledge of the rules. And maybe if they play one game they would understand.
I'm glad that's off my chest! :)

He had a shocking red toupe, hey TGN. Maybe it got in his eyes.
Hey guys this is why we dont have umpiers, with all the shit they cop, you can only take so much, and the umpier that had the pink wrist bands, they were a anti cancer promo they had going.Maybe some of you need to go and umpier a game, you might see things from another side, and i think you will find that most of the umps running around a ex players...some thing to think about.
If you have a player that needs to be told that he's doing a great job for him to play well, you would do it,maybe the umpiers need to be told that they a doing a good job and they might lift to ;)

Fair point Tige, but when players play badly they get dropped.
I understand there is an umpire shortage, but at what cost do we let the sub-standard umpiring continue? I am commenting mainly on reserves here, as the two umpire system in the seniors seems to even itself out and the level of senior umpiring is generally acceptable.
That was why I suggested two club umpires for each reserves game.
Yes people make mistakes, but when poor decisions are made time after time on the most BASIC rules (holding the ball/prior opportunity), it just proves a lack of understanding of the game. If each club could provide an umpire who has played before, I think we would get a better outcome.
Just a thought. I hope it doesn't cost any team a final this season let alone the big one...

Whats the thoughts on this weekends games?
- Benalla could throw a spanner in the works of Moyhu's finals hopes.
- Greta need a win against Glenrowan as it's unlikely they will beat Milawa.
- Whorouly need a win to have any chance, but I think it's unlikely.
- Tarra and Bright should record comfortable victories.

Bright by 16gls
Moyhu by 5gls
Greta by 3gls
Milawa by 8gls
Tarra by 10gls

I know what your saying, in all finals this year we will have 3 umpiers doing the 1st and 2 doing the 2nds for all finals...

Yeah well said Tige as bad as they are sometimes we need to give more support, we had G Nolan & M Brown doing our twos game last week which i reckon worked very well. I think that if we have club umpires doing the 2s that its esential that there is one from each club to not only help share the load as far as the running goes but it helps takes the potential bias out of the game........ By the way Tige since when has Jeff Kennett been your scribe for the record?

I'm confident that any twos player would be happy with that scenario, Virge. We had two club umpires a couple of weeks ago and nothing bad was said about either one. Is there anyone on this forum (with a bit of pull) that could raise this with the league?
And why should we give "support" to the umpires that make mistakes week in week out? If you paid someone to do a job and they were constantly making poor errors in judgement, they'd get the sack straight away. Is there any quality control/regular testing for umpires in the O&K?
And may I stress that it is a few umpires that need to be seriously looked at.

Very well said TGN, totally agree with everything you said and what you said about the umpires in previous posts...Tige that's great about having that many umpires in the finals, however it still doesn't help during the Home & Away season. You don't want a club missing out on finals due to bad umpiring in the season. And in relation to the umpire wearing pink wrist bands, I wasn't having a go at his dress sense - I knew why he was wearing them - I was referring to some decisions he pulls out sometimes!
