Over this board....

Gotta agree with the OP here. The reactions on this board after the loss were very very knee jerk. Not saying that alot ot the criticism wasn't deserved but that most of it was hardly constructive or well thought out. People screaming for the sacking of players, or declaring that they will never make it are the worst. People need to sit back and look at this all with a reasoned and critical eye instead lighting up the torches and bringing out the pitch forks.

I think the problem is before Monday we thought we had been a little hard done by in the way of results, since we had lost a few close ones that we all thought we should or could have won.
This gave us a false sense of hope, I for one thought before Monday we were a team that could really challenge if we played good football and stopped dropping games to easy teams.
Monday showed me just how far away from the best teams in the comp we are. We got smashed in every department. It was shocking. Does anyone really think we are a chance to win a flag in the next few years?
Honestly? We are so far off it's not funny.

The negativity has been building up for a long time.

There's so much uncertainty surrounding Collingwood right now that we're all confused and frustrated.

We don't know where we're at playing group wise. We don't know where the club is heading. We don't know whether the club's finances are going to recover in the short-term. We don't know who's going to be a coach, and whether it will make a difference. We don't know whether Eddie and our administration's doing a good job. We still don't know whether leaving Vic Park was a good idea. We don't know whether 2 GFs early in MM's career was good or bad.

Losing ANZAC the way we lost it, getting pumped by the Saints, and now staring down a thumping at the hands of our arch enemy while we have a multitude of injuries ... things aren't looking rosy for the black and white and the frustration that has been building up is starting to seap out.

The worst thing is, we don't know how to get out of it.

Sorry to put a downer on the positive thread, but I've been positive in most threads (trying to convince myself mainly). My honest feeling is ... we're f$#ked this Sunday.

Those issue are only for supporters, I'd guarantee no one inside the club gives those things a second thought, their focus is only about this week.

I want to be a Happy Collingwood person, but when we loose I am sad.

Is that bad?

Yes, it's eternal damnation at Pandemonium Palace for you.

After a bad loss, it's best to stay away from this board for a day or so while the panic-merchants run riot. Level-headed discussion usually resumes after that. I look forward to reading the thoughtful match reports and player reviews posted, and it's interesting to see how differently posters see a game.

i dont post very often, but when i do i try not to do it strait after a game , when im tired , drunk, and emotional.

Haha sound advice i think. Thats exactly the point i'm trying to make....our losses pave way for a storm of threads that are basically one lined attacks on individuals, the team, and the club. Probably says more about our passion and love for the club than anything.

I've thought about this thread more, and i think it boils down to that after every loss, our boys, the club and all of us are hurting pretty badly, and it upsets me a tad that poeple are so quick to sink the boots in...when we are already down. Just like i defend Collingwood to other supporters, i guess thats i'm doing with this thread somewhat....as funny as that sounds!!

Go woods!

I guarantee you the board weigh up what has happened each week and especially in a year that the pres came out and said we are a chance this year. You can bet your last dollar that all results and reactions are being dissected to the nth degree by that board. They have a huge decision to make at some stage this year and they are all politically savvy and know they need to asses not only the current coach but the supporters growing disatisfaction if they look to be standing still when other clubs are moving past us.

it wasnt funny then

isnt funny now

yeah i really dont think that joke will ever actually be funny

Absolutely - cos it isn't a joke - it's a pun. A pun isn't a joke. They are similar - but not the same. Good luck with that. No offence but conservative people aren't exactly my comedy demographic so your derision actually reassures me I am on the right track - but thanks for making the effort to be constructive.

By the way, how is your support for the status quo working out for you these days?

Yeah it's killing me mate. Sometimes I lie awake at night and worry about my critics. Especially you. Pity about the posters though. Are you sure that it wasn't you ripping them down whilst exclaiming "I hate this bloke so much I am going to rip down his posters. He'll cry like a girl when he comes back and sees I've done that"

I have done this performance stuff for years all over the world and you definitely get the prize for being the funniest internet person with an axe to grind that I've ever come across so I will definitely give you credit for that! Not just the stuff you write about me but pretty much how you respond to anyone you have decided to think is an idiot!

Best of luck to you I say!

um thanks?

is that the response you want

Okay you want some positives from Monday night.
Frasers' injury means that the one ruckman strategy must go out the window, neither Wood or Bryan are currently good enough to carry the ruck by themselves. So I would expect us to bring in 2 ruckmen which would mean that Liegh Brown will probably be dropped (surely he isn't there for just his forward line efforts) and hopefully....... aw geez the team has just been named and only one ruck (Wood) has come in and Brown's still in!!!!
Reid has got a game (good cause we have to develop him or he'll never come on) but no Dawes. Dang I was going to spruke a few positives that ins would have given, don't get me wrong, I like most of the ins I just think we could have done more.
