Over umpiring

The two things that are ruining the AFL game is congestion and OVER UMPIRING.
Let the game go and pay the obvious free kicks. This is making the game almost unwatchable.

The problem with that is players push the boundaries to the point of cheating. If the umpires aren’t strict then the rule-breaking gets out of hand with literal mauling in marking contests etc.

“Under-umpiring” over the last 20 odd years and the tactics it’s allowed to evolve is a main reason why we have congestion in the first place.

How can you “over umpire”?
It’s there job to adjudicate the game to the rules, if anything the game is under umpired as mentioned.
Maybe you should be asking “why players and coaches can’t play by the rules?”.
