Lets not forget how good Brent Moloney is ... im not saying he'd have made a significant difference, but because he's a long bomb and we have no marking forwards - dont blame Moloney for that, blame Kingsley who rarely takes an overhead contested mark, and if he does he misses from anywhere outsides 3m
Why not blame the marking forwards, Ottens and Playfair?

Because Ottens has been injured since round 10 pretty much, and b4 Playfair broke his jaw was probably Geelongs most improved players ... Kingsley (and his kicking) will not take this club to a premiership!

He drafts similar type players all good honest types but cant seem to find that freakish untapped talent.

Not having one aboriginal rookie or listed player is absurd, how many examples do we have to see before taking a punt on a few of them in the rookie draft and late selections.

I'm waiting for this expert to name, since say the last 5 years, some of the aboriginals we've missed, along with the freakish untapped talents who have come AFTER pick #7. Aaron davey? Andrew Lovett? they came through the rookie lists, so 15 other clubs passed them up.

As for the freakish untapped talents, there's maybe Rivers, Staker/Seaby and Sam Mitchell who we could've picked up but didnt, but none are really players that are make some of our late picks like kelly, johnson & egan look bad. Seaby/Staker would've been a better choice then some of our tall forwards, but not really worth hanging Stephen Wells for that.

It's pretty obvious, guys, that players such as Steve Johnson, Paul Chapman and Gary Ablett just aren't exciting when they have the pill in their hands. They are predictable simple passers of the football who simply take possession and kick to the obvious spot. No creativity whatsoever and certainly no polish with the footy. The crowd groans whenever any of these three touch the footy, too.

Romours have it Essendon offered Mark Johnson plus their first round pick for Tenace and our 2nd round pick - i would have preffered to keep beamer and drop Tenace for MJ and Ottens - as Ess's numb 1 pick would have been given to Rich to seal the deal.
Since when has Kent been a pack marking full forward? The point is, he's a leading forward and a good one at that. Beamer bombing the ball in long every time he gets it is going to do Kingsley no favours at all. Take away half of Kingsley's goals this year and I hate to think where we'd be.

Football is becoming over-complicated - even though im only 19 myself, it seems that there are plenty of excuses going around for forwards.

Leading forward or marking forward - if ur the club's main target (in the absence of otto - kingsley has been) and stand 193cm with 94kg behind u there is no reason why u shouldn't be able to take the packs marks.

Also getting the ball in quick from long beamer bombs wouldnt nessecarily (spelling) sit the ball up on packs for Kingsley to break open, it would give him every chance one out against his oponent.

Now next time u see KK ask him if he would prefer his teamates to get the ball in as quickly as possible to give him a one on one contest with his oponent ... im guessing we know what he'd say - so its fair to say beamer would be a very valuable player if still in the hoops!

Stature means nothing. He's just not that type of player and never will be. The sooner you realise, the sooner you can be at peace with Kent.

"I don't put myself in the category of the other key goalkickers … I don't see myself as a key forward as such," said Kingsley, who is 193 centimetres and 94 kilograms.

"I don't see myself as big enough to be full-forward or key forward sort of thing. I'm probably more in the mould of (Hawthorn forward Mark) Williams where I get most of my stuff on a lead, and you're probably at the mercy of the midfield and the delivery, and it's not every day you're going to get it lace out."

We have one top 5 pick in Ottens and we had to give up a promising and quality midfielder as well as our first pick in order to get him. If Wells had the same opportunity as these other teams, we would have a player of Ottens' calibre, Moloney and our first rounder from last year.
Steven King? Also, WC traded to get their #1 pick for Gardiner. They had identified them as the man they wanted and went for it. Don't have an opinion about your recruiting generally, but you don't get to have a quality list as you do have without knowing what you're doing. Although Father/Son has probably added to your list more than any other club.
