CSL? Don't think Jiangsu Suning have a lot of history and they got Alex Teixeira over there.

That's a bit of a different situation. Don't see Brighton offering a player 400k a week.

Owners worth doesn't mean a lot. How much of it he is willing to spend, and how much he will be permitted to spend under the current rules is.

Then you have to look at things like location, stability, status of club, marketability etc.

If Bloom (for example) decided to spend his fortune he still wouldn't get A Listers straight away.

We are working on the status and marketability(it's improved a lot even from 2 years ago), location and stability we have covered.

He's not willing to pay some of the insane wage demands is why we'll never spend ridiculous amounts of money for players even if it's there. We have a wage structure and we're sticking to it it seems.

I do see you guys being an attractive destination if you can stay in the league for 3-4 years, kind of getting to that Southampton level of attraction.

Even ahead of them. Players could still be based in nice parts of greater south London and play in Brighton

You got Tevez, Adebayor and Kolo Toure in your first full season under Mansour and signed Robinho the year before when CFG were owners for literally 5 minutes. And in 2010, despite missing out on UCL football to Spurs, you still signed Yaya Toure, WC winner David Silva and UCL winner Mario Balotelli (along with Boateng and Dzeko). Monaco splurged on Falcao, James, Moutinho, Abidal, Carvalho and Martial as soon as they got promoted from Ligue 1.

If you have money you will get A-listers straight away.

Tevez was the closest to an A lister when we bought him. The others were all considered one or two levels below at the time. But without Robinho and Tevez it would have been that much harder to sign elite talent as those two signings showed that the club meant business.

FWIW our first signings under the new ownership were Bridge, Bellamy, De Jong and Given.

I doubt anyone with money in the UK uses British beaches.

You'd be surprised. Probably the most attractive part of the country, although that's not saying much.

The South Coast has a lot going for them when you compare to the rest of the country.the rest of the country.

We all have to start somewhere. The City wasn't built in a night. As you said, you need to get yourself just the right player at the right time to build your profile. Robinho is the guy I have as the start of the new age. Yeah, he flopped, but that's the thing, you now had something attractive about you guys, and you had a nice niche: The Blue side of Man Utd. Imagine hope epic a proper cross-town rivarly can be, and imagine how pumping the city can be with two quality sides?

Mind you, Kompany will always be the face of City for me.

Most pundits in Spain thought Silva was world class when you got him and thought he was off to Real Madrid after the WC. Toure was a UCL winning CB/CDM when you signed him so it's not like he didn't have pedigree. Dzeko was a Bundesliga winner with Wolfsburg and the most consistent striker in Germany after Mario Gomez back then. Adebayor and Kolo were both established PL players for a top 4 club. They mightn't have been A-listers (both were quality when they wanted to be) but they certainly had massive name recognition. Tevez and Robinho had the star power but I wouldn't exactly say that you guys really needed them to attract the names you did in the early years.

FWIW our first signings under the new ownership were Bridge, Bellamy, De Jong and Given.

Robinho, Bridge, Bellamy and De Jong were CFG's first 4 signings and even then the four you mentioned were all highly rated and could've gone anywhere in England (or in De Jong's case, Europe). Again, having Robinho and Tevez helped but I don't think City would've had many issues buying players.

Wayne Bridge wasn't that highly rated by his missus apparently...

They paid a lot for those players as well, it wasn't as if they shelled out a lot for Robinho and then brought in small parts. 2010-11 was when they really started ramping up the spending on high quality after finishing 5th the season before.

Just no beaches... Not far to go to leave the country though.
Ha weirdest point ever.
Victorian beaches in winter would be more attractive than any English beach lol.

Absolutely. You've almost got to build a team to get you into the top 4, and then another team once you get there. We were lucky with some of the icons that were part of both teams. Send of for Zaba last year, Yaya tonight, Vinny, Kun and Silva still to come. Ask me five times and I'll probably come up with 5 different answers on who the face of this era is.

Silva was extremely highly rated at the time of that Valencia fire sale and before they turned to s**t, they finished top 3 and were probably comparable to current Atletico. As is said, was a first choice pick for Spain even back then. Definitely an A grader at the time.

Correct.

Half Moon Bay at Black Rock beach is about 20 mins from the CBD.

Was in the squad but wasnt a first teamer with Spain. Think he only started one game in the world cup that year and appeared in one or two others.

He was highly rated but hadn't really made it at that stage. And there were plenty of doubts that he would be able to play in England.

England has got some nice beaches, particularly in the north west. Not too far to go for some awesome beaches in North Wales either.

Melbourne beaches are s**t, but not nicer as you move out of Melbourne.

Adelaide beaches are very good.
