Will be harder for them to do a City with FFP in place, but they’re certainly be big players from now. That’s why I’m a supporter of FFP. If they abide by these rules then good luck to them

They'll be able to spend as much as Everton did.

Yeah probably right. You can see that frustrating them and they’ll attempt to do what City have done you’d imagine

Everton have spent a lot of money, think they're going to make a 200m loss this season alone. Everton just didn't spend it well.

Will they? Yes his family has a massive net wealth but watching a clip from TrueGeordie he makes two good points. 1. Owners like Kroenke etc doesn’t mean money will be thrown away with gay abandon 2. Ashley wanted £340m and he haggled for months down to £300m. He’s not so sure the Toon are going to be the next Man City

Not a bad point. But what would be their motivation for buying them other than a vanity project like Chelsea and City before them? It’s not like they need the club as an investment to make them money when they’re worth £300 billion or whatever it is

But none were really marquee signings imo. Enough to challenge for top six and that’s how it’s panned out but mainly because so many of the top six have fallen off

Richarlison and Sigurdsson both cost 50m+ and would be on big wages.

If they wanted instant EPL success and spent 600m they'd be best going for the following

Poch - free
Kane - 200m
Sancho - 100m
Dele - 60m
Chilwell - 60m
Rice - 60m
Stones - 60m

And then spend 120m + any money raised on player sales on players from around Europe.

They can’t spend that much though surely? That must breach FFP?

Mbappe 250m + Maddison for good measure.

First season it won't matter because they won't be in Europe. What FFP helps with is continued spend like that. But the first season if they get it right it won't matter as when they make the CL the following season they won't have to spend 600m to do so.

Also UEFA are talking about loosening the rules a bit to help clubs stay afloat aren't they?

UEFA are planning on corona virus assistance for FFP with many clubs likeky to encounter significant unexpected and unforseen losses.

I reckon they would take a dim view of a club running up huge losses and taking advantage of the corona pandemic

FFP remains in place and is likely to remain for the long haul. Rightly so IMO.

All I know is we are likely to see a return to the board of our Geordie friends who will all be big advocates against FFP restrictions. A load of toon army Moomba’s if you will

Could be a very crazy side

Dubravka
??? - Stones - Upamaecano - Chillwell
Rice - Shelvey
Sancho - Dele - Mbappe
Kane

Nah they'll have Messi and Ronaldo in the team.

I mean what's the point of saying "Ooh they could have this or that player" that's for Newcastle fans' wet dreams in the transfer thread.

The idea that the Saudis are buying a club to make money is laughable. If its money they are after they can make much much more in real estate / share markets.

Like other ME owned clubs their motivation is soft power. They want Saudi Arabia to be known for its successful football club - and not be known for its appalling human rights and things like the Jamal Khashoggi scandal.

Any profits (if any) will be inconsequential to them. As will be the huge losses.

Moomba may just start supporting FFP when Newcastle buy Sterling / KDB for £500m and bump their wages to 600k / week.

Difference b/w those 2, one had resale value when they bought him and the latter wasn't likely to at his age. So that's the way Newcastle should go in the transfer market really, and well it could be a very good summer for them in this current market also.
